I called them yesterday and got voicemail.  Ok, no big deal.  So I left a message asking them if they had a kapex in stock and left my name an number.  I left the message early in the day and gt no response by the end of the day.  Ridiculous. 

I have some large crown to install, and finally want to buy a kapex and put it to the test.  Large mdf crown, what could be a better on?  If the kapex wasn't such a bear to ship, I would get it online but I don't want the fog dealers to have to deal with the shipping if I decide I don't want it.

Would think Bob Marino could ship to you really fast from New Jersey. He often adds extra packaging materials to protect shipments and if you call and discuss with him you should be quite happy. Tom at Tool-Home gives excellent service as well from Austin Texas I believe.

Ah, I see.  Thought taht may have been what you were considering.

When the 30 day satisfaction guarantee policy is exercised it's the customer who is responsible for shipping back to the dealer.

I have a Festool Dealer 1.5 miles from my house, but I still go to Sean for the majority of my Festool Purchases.  The dealer by my house sucks and just bitches and moans about how the tool industry has changed so much.  Basically, he's stuck doing business as if it's the early 90's and has made no effort to update his way of selling tools and accessories.  About the only thing I buy there is consumables like Dominos and Sandpaper when I need them in a pinch and he just so happens to have some in stock.

Gotta love brick and mortar. A couple of months ago I ordered four boxes of paper for my ETS125. No big rush I had plenty in stock. That was until it took them two and a half weeks and several prodding calls to get the paper here.  [eek] Sean on everything from here on out.

Hey, we love brick n mortar, cause we are one.  I think it gives us a very unique advantage and opportunity to serve.  Web is fast, easy, always there.  Brick 'n mortar is always there for the locals, allows us to have hands on experience, expert knowledge, easily test all tools  'n accessories, gives you a fantastic demo locale to really grasp and understand the full line, etc.  We look at it as a symbiotic relationship.

Our in town dealer went out of business. They had a great display area (they were also a Rockler sub) but didn't seem to care about selling Festool.

Then a building supply in the next town picked up the dealership. I went in to check on their "consumables" stock, and it was pathetic. Two end caps with only RO 150 sand paper (no RO 90, etc). A subset of domino supplies, and only 3 of the Festool power tools. In the middle of the aisle was an MFT/3 sitting there with the fence disconnected and various other (not Festool) things piled on it like you'd find in somebody's messy garage where they hadn't used their bench in 6 months.

Yesterday I called to ask if they have a CMS in for demo. "CMS? CMS? Let's see, uh, oh yeah, that router thingy. The rep told me that was coming, but I don't think it's released yet..."

  Funny you should mention Force Machinery.  I received a call this morning  from someone in NJ who was looking for RO 125 brushes. I mentioned that I did not carry them, but to call Festool Service and they would ship it out. I offered to let him borrow my RO 125 until the brushes got to him; he thanked me but declined as he would use another sander he owned to finish the job. He mentioned how he would have stopped down to Force Machinery and pick up whatever he needed and apparently knows Jim Force - and Jim's dad - who founded the store many moons ago and sees both at the Rotary Club meetings.
Sad that Force closed but good that they owned the building and property. Wish them both well.

UPDATE:  This local dealership has gone under.  Which is unfortunate, since they were the only ones that had an employee that knew anything about Festool. 

So I go to the other Festool dealership which is no less than a half mile away.  I ask them if I can take the kapex out for a spin for a few days so I can run this crown.  They say yes, and why don't you take the mft kapex with it.  This is awesome!  I'm pumped, I can hardly contain myself. 

I finally set it up this morning, the guy I have helping me is as excited as I am.  I go to make a practice cut through some 5/4 poplar...only to find that the blade is so dull it's burning and making so much smoke it's absurd.  Argh!  Ok, so let me call them up to see if I can get a blade from them. " Uh...let me check". Nope, we don't have a blade in stock.  WTF? 

So I call yet another dealer.  "sorry, we don't stock blades.  I can order one for you.". Oh yeah?  Guess what, I can order one too and have it here sooner!  Jesus. 

So now I have a 1300.00 boat anchor sitting on the floor.  So frustrating.  I'm done with these shmucks.

I dont bother with mine local one either just like mentioned only for the odd bit of sand paper or planer blades when I need it there and then.

BUT  2 days ago I needed some 80grit  Rotex 90  sand paper I needed it that day so coudnt wait for delivery so seen as I was popping into my local dealer I thought I would pick some up.

Well..... um not sure how long the Rotex90 has been out in the UK but I know its few months now.  

Me:   I need some 80grit sandpaper for Rotex.

Dealer:  Which one Rotex 125 or 150

Me: No Rotex 90

Dealer:  You sure you mean 90?

Me: yes Rotex 90

Dealer: We dont have any umm let me check the catalogue.  Nope no Rotex 90 in the catalogue 10/11

Me:  Well...... ummmm it does exist mate.

Dealer: Well you will have to go on the internet and get me a part number for the sand paper so I can order it in.

Me: I might aswell order it from the internet if im going to do that.   You have the internet go look your self.

Dealer: Oh yeah.  Oh here it is on the computer internet.

Me: Yes thats the one.  

They always ask me why I dont bother buying tools from them........  I wonder!!!

I guess I/m lucky.  Two local (40 min travel each way to get to each of them) and one on internet who is not really internet to me. All three always seem to have what i need. if not they know immediately what to order.
for those in my local area:
Bob Marino is my internet source but not really internet as far as i am concerned.
Norwalk WoodWorkers Club  (Woodcraft)  40 min each way
The Nuts at the Tool Place, (or something like that) 40 min in other direction
It all depends on whether i am out of gas or whether i want the sun in my eyes coming/or going.
The end result for either is absolutely great service
