Was asked for a solid Cherry platter. This one is my favourite compared to the other ones I've made. Now going to make a solid Walnut one for another client. Cheers.

Cool idea, what are the deminsions? I made a quick sever tray at the end of summer out of a scrap piece of 2X12 that turned out decent for an experiment.
I just recently finished my xmas cutting board order and bit of walnut, maple and cherry lefts overs that I could use up.

Any pictures of the process?

Did you use a router sled? Or something else entirely?

And I'm thinking this would be a great use for an MFS, right?

Very nice cutting boards, I did a similar board out of walnut, cherry and maple but it it is only 5/8" thick. Not to be used as a cutting board though, just for serving.

Hi Wow. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the process. I'll try and explain. I got some rough Cherry 1"x7"x6' and cut it to 2 pieces that were 30" long. Planed them down and joined them to make a piece 5/8"x12"x30". I then cut out the pattern for each handle at each end and cut them off to produce the handles. Each handle is 3" wide. So when I cut them off I had a board that was 12"x24" in size and 2 handles. Glued the handles on top of each end, glued the sides on and sanded everything. 3 coats of lacquer to finish it off. Hopefully that is easy to follow.
Cheers
JC
