thoughts on mft table

I didn't like the MFT. Too small, wobbly. I took it apart, threw out the legs and top, attached the railings and track to a workbench, made my own top. I am much happier.

If you search on vise as the key word and Birdhunter as author, you should get the thread with the MFT extension photos. I don't know how to post a link.

I have 2, 3 if you count the Kapex table. IMO the MFT is one of the 3 things you need to really use the Festool system.

I'm wanting to get another one when I get back stateside.  ( not enough room for 2 here in the UK)

I bought one about a month ago, and I love it.  I went back and forth on buying one or building the Paulk Worktable.  I decided on buying one and now it is my go to table.  Very versatile especially when used with the track system.  Money well spent.

OK, I'll bite.  What do you suggest are the other 2 - TS, ??

Mike A.
TS 55/75 and a CT, everything else, rail type/ size, sanders etc are all personal preference for your own type of woodworking.
those 3 things are the foundation to the system.

I think that it was over 3 years ago when I ordered my MFT3. Before it arrived I kept worrying whether I had made the right choice. Even though I rarely work away from base and have a reasonable amount of room in my workshop I still value the MFT3.

It is the perfect platform for impromptu jigs, holding things for Domino work, a bit of sawing or whatever. And for most people the ability to shove it in the van (or even a tiny Yaris) or fold it away when not in use makes it even better.

I have designed and made many work benches. I have designed some bits and pieces to make guide rail sawing easier and more accurate but despite this I still return to my MFT3 for loads of jobs.

Peter, I use mine TIME and TIME again, it only takes a MINUTE to use the clamps, elements and setting up the guide rail for cutting. As I said I have a SECOND MFT . I'm looking to get a third one, I'll have to WATCH and see if I can find one. They are like haveing a third HAND,, they shave HOUR off the CLOCK when I'm hard at a project.

Hi Ron,

Gosh, the old Festool watch thing had started to slip away but, I have to hand it to you, your timely intervention has reminded me to watch out for even minute references.

You must be getting ready for your course at the Woodworkers' Workshop - good luck and don't forget to take something for teacher !

Peter
