I've think I might get a TI 15 impact drill basic model, I have a 15v 3ah battery that I won't be using with my Carvex as it's too underpowered.

My question is it working out for any owners that use it regularily?

I'm pretty well Festool only in my tool buying so I don't really want to get another brand, as I don't want to deal with too many different battery types..

The good thing about the 15 v batteries is that they can be used in the Carvex, and the PDC, later I might get the TSC 55 with 18V 5.2 batteries.. A Syslite or two..

I'm going to be doing some deck and fencing and building a small garden cottage, so on these projects a impact could come in handy, not to mention for general fastening tasks..

TI impact then is it a good idea?

Thanks in advance for any help!

This is a tool that receives much criticism but I love mine. I've had it since last January and use it all the time in my shop.

I can't understand all the bad reviews, it seems compact, efficient enough.. I suppose the full kit is rather expensive, also  performance might not be as good as some of the competition. Still I don't see the issue for most users.

I really like the look of the SDS drill too, had the basic in my basket, but thought that I'd likely get more use out of the TI 15 impact than an SDS..

At least if they offer it they still offer ten years of replacement part availability..

I have had one for a while and use it on most jobs, works fine as an impact driver.
I do not have the drill conversion kit that you can get for the Ti 15, and I think it's the conversion kit that turns the impact into a drill that has caused most of the criticism.

I love mine. I have the basic kit and throw a C12 in there with it. Share batteries. The drill conversion makes it very high speed, which I find useful for some things.

Thanks for the replies. I've been thinking about the TI 15 off and on, it bugs me that it might disappear, an impact driver is on my buy list and with no Festool replacement in sight! I'm a Festool fan and it really suits me best that I keep my batteries compatible in my system, even though the 18 V batteries that I use in my Carvex and PDC aren't compatible with the TI at least the 15V batterries will work in them, and I can imagine I'll end up owning the Syslite vers. 2  The cost of running the cordless setup will spread out over more tools.. 1 15V 3 Ah 1 or 2 14.4 V 5.2 Ah and 2 18V 4.2 will most likely give enough power for one days work.. For now though I'll just have the 1 14.4 V 3 Ah and 2 18V 4.2, so getting the extra battery will have a high priority on my acquisition list..

I have now bought the TI 15 from a spot in Germany. I'm getting the bare model with the adaptor chuck.

I use my TI15 & T15+3 all the time in the shop and on installations.

My only regret is not buying another TI15 before they were discontinued.

Easy to find TI15's here in Scandinavia shipped from Germany or the UK, well actually I was looking at the plus kit with the two batteries, and it wasn't available which caused me to panic and buy the bare model without battery, but with adaptor chuck. I don't have an immediate use for it. But is at least two projects that I want to start where not having an impact driver would be a serious drawback..

Otherwise TI15's are still available at other dealers.

Gawd I'm just so excited about getting my new TI 15, I been reading up after the fact on it, and it seems there's been some negatives, but I think for my use it will do fine, and it really is a plus that I can keep my battery setup standardised.

On another tack I've spent too much time researching bits, and have bought a 30 pcs diamond impaktor set by Wera.. It gives me every bit type except slot, with some triples in the most used sizes. Additionally there is an impackter bit holder that apparently extends the lifetime of the bits by a factor 10.. It actually looks like it could be compatible with centrotec , but if not it's no big loss, I can use the included Festool impact bit holder in the centrotec chuck..

That points up one of the cons about about the Centrotec system, the Centrotec Chuck can't take the special tools that you need once in a while, which for the normal Festool drills isn't a big deal you can always use the tooless chuck, but on a Impact drill I don't think you can use the tools chuck as it's incompatible with impact modus..In this case only really an issue because of the fancy Impaktor bit holder..though I notice others have converted other bit holders using the Half Inch Shy modification...It might also be possible to do that with the Impaktor bit holder too.. Don't know if it's worth it for my uses anyways.. I got the set relatively cheaply considering the cost of the equivalent bits from Festool.. Plus Festool doesn't offer Hexs bits or as many sizes of PZ or Torx. though the Impaktor diamond 30 piece set I'm getting includes some non diamond impaktor bits..mostly in the smaller sizes..

I've also been looking at the Erbauser Impact Socket Driver Set available from ScrewFix in the UK: Erbauer Impact Socket Driver Set 3 Pieces Product Code: 6297D I might modify Centrotec, though it might make them less impact capable..

I'll try out ScrewFixes Erbauer impact bits as well, which are competitively priced at around £2.50 for 3, they also have a box of 20 PZ 2, for £8!

All this research about the bits really does point that once again it's the consumables/bits blades that drive the costs of operation up, a powertool cost has bearing on the operating expenses, but crying over a tool cost 50 or 100 dollars more than the competition, then going out and buying hundreds of dollars worth of screws, bits, thousands in building materials aand so on makes the tool cost seem proportionately smaller. Just pointing this out as a discussion point when others cry about festool pricing...

At some dealers in the USA TI 15 is still available..
