The TID 18 accepts only the standard 1/4 hex bits, so since I have an older centrotec installers' kit, I was wondering if anyone has experience with any quality 1/4" bit holder that will accept a centrotec bit?

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Personally I would use regular 1/4" impact bits in the TID18. Rather than beat up non-impact Centrotec bits. There is also the clunky factor that you always end up with when an adapter is used.

Hi, and welcome!

As said, and as you already know, the TID 18 has industry standard hex socket.
I’d do as SRSemenza suggests, just get an impact rated bit holder. The Centrotec stuff fits any std. hex bit holder - the bits itself from the installer kits are very standard bits.

In a pinch, Festool’s magnetic Centrotec bit holders are from a while back impact rated.
Se photo below, check if yours has the same inscription.
I really like the one(s) below, they have really strong magnets and keeps the bits well seated.
- Therefore these stay away from my impact drills …

While I keep Centrotec drills and adapters with my Festool equipment, I use Wera bits and holders with my Milwaukee 12 and 18v and  Fein tools in my service van.
