Hello,

Recently purchased the TID 18 / PDC 18 set.
Looking for suggestion on best Drill bit set to go with it.
Hex or round, which one is better?
Is there a chuck that can take round heads and quick replace? Kindly suggest.

Ok centrotec, is there a good set? How are the Snappy ones?

They're good enough, I think. The cabinet makers set and six-bit drill set are a good start. You'll still want to get some Festool bits.

I would like to get it once and get it right, so if you suggest any specific ones, I will look into.
Also I was look at Festool Centrotec chuck and we can replace the bits.
Can I use a round bit to go along with the Chuck holder?

I’d suggest you’d not link to festoolproducts or toolnut - the links won’t work for us from Europe [wink] So no help there. Better link to Festool USA at least.

Anyway, the TID can only accept std. hex. Only advise is to go for impact rated bits and bit holders. Festool recently launched impact rated bits to go with the TID.

As mentioned from other members, Centrotec is very good for most other purposes, changes fast and is very stable, but not more than a standard jacobs chuck. When it comes to holding (Centrotec) hex, the Centrotec shines. But, it’s not necessary.

I guess the centrotec drill bit won't work on a TID isn't it?

Nope, it won't. The TiD takes standard impact rated hex bits.

The PDC takes centrotec bits. What makes centrotec so good IMHO is that you can change the bits out very quickly.

And is compact compared to adding a quick change holder to a Jacobs chuck.

An additional note ................  the 50mmm Centrotec bits are very short when inserted into the chuck. They only protrude about 20mm from the end of the chuck. And those stubby Centrotec drill bits are handy for tight spots too.
