Timothy wilmont festool storage bench project

Depending in the situation, weight can replace clamps, as can bungee cords. Also, hot glue gun will grab almost instantly and hold everything together while the woodworking glue dries. You do have to leave a small area dry of glue for the hot glue to work. Hot glue on its own is not satisfactory..

Also, if not much pressure is required, packing tape can hold pieces together as can wire brads.

Also, pocket hole screws work well where their appearance is not objectionable. In many cases the pocket holes are either hidden or not visible in cabinet carcasses, and can be added to dowel or domino joinery.

Bit more updates, finished up the Oak laminating, planing and router work. Needed to move things around on the shop to plane and router 8' bosrds. Had two mishaps, one router bit came out of collet (had it pretty tight) and dug a hole in the wood, and the i had a bit of wandering so I will have to fix that as well. Learning as I go along.

Router bit definitely shouldn't be moving in the collet if it was done up tight. Was the bit not seated down enough, or is it maybe a 12mm shank instead of 1/2"?

Half inch shanks, i was really surprised as I never had an issue. I.am going to order a replacement collet as a backup

Is the inside of the collet really shiny with rub marks, indicating the cutters been rotating in it?

Well, time for another update, got all the Oak cut for the first top outer edges and glued and beat in place. I nailed and screwed into place and le veled as i could. Fixed my router wandering error and hope to get top cut and screwed on tomorrow 1000026132.jpg20251022_213255.jpg1000026137.jpg1000026148.jpg1000026147.jpg1000026149.jpg1000026150.jpg

More work on leveling top, trimming to fit and minor routing and planing to level out the Oak sections. Getting some good practice using the planes. By the way, I bought parallel clamps at harbor freight, they are on sale now and super nice. See the blue ones on the glue up

Today, I finished drilling the top using parf guide system, aka Peter Parfit system, takes about 30 seconds per hole. Very pleased with layout. Also sealed it so we will see how it turns out.
