The company recommends keeping the following tools (plus a few obvious things like Duct Tape etc.) in my camper.

¾" Lug Wrench or socket (for lug nuts)
Socket set with metric sockets (10, 13, 17mm)
Tire Pressure Gauge
Philips head screwdriver (no size specified)
Small level
Pliers
Adjustable wrench (1" standard)
Metric hex keys (4,5,6)

Have at it, what would you buy? I don't wan to buy huge sets of things just because, but I prefer excellent tools, especially since I'll be away from home base resources.

Links are welcome...

(of course, this will be all fit into a systainer of some sort...)

Naturally, if your experiences suggest adding something to the list.. by all means. This is just a starting point.

Thanks!

For the sockets I have heard good things about the new PowerTorque sockets that are at O'really's Auto Parts and they are on sale right now. They work on 8 different kind of heads, and can remove an 80-90% rounded head. This is a link to the 3/8 drive 10mm socket to get you started>

Here's a basic set:

For the metric hex keys I prefer Bondhus. Available in sets and individually from many places.

Lug nuts should ALWAYS be torqued, so you need a 1/2" torque wrench anyway. Believe it or not, the Harbor Freight wrench gets pretty good ratings and at less than $20 (after coupon) wouldn't be a big deal if it got broke, lost, or stolen:

Just add a 3/4" socket and you're good!

I also think that one of the best values in screwdrivers is the HF 8 Pc Professional Screwdriver Set
Pittsburgh - Item#94607
MSRP: $11.99, Sale Price: $8.99

Again, for less than $10 for the set they are very good and cheap enough that you don't care if they are borrowed, broken, lost, or stolen. Or used as a pry bar...

BTW, I have a nice set of professional screwdrivers in my main toolbox, but I keep these in my service cart and ALWAYS grab them first.

And lest I be considered a fanboy, DO NOT go to HF for pliers or adjustable wrenches - you will not be happy.

Thanks [member=25476]wow[/member] ... good point about torque wrench. :+1: (Speaking of safety... I just checked the donut spare in my car? 12lbs of pressure. Or basically worthless. So much for my dealer's 30 point safety check...  [sad])
