Toolnews for Autumn 2015?

Just googled it, brighton tools have it listed for pre order. It mentions can be used as a groover with the conversion kit. Could be interesting for heavy timber building...

Just heard from 2 dealers in the GTA area that the MIDI is coming back to Canada. I heard it's a little different then the old one with a different motor. Hopefully this is true and not just another friken rumour.
Cheers.

It seems to me that the 85 saw is an example of Festool not considering the North American market needs. If the saw could cut 90 mm then it would be able to cut a nominal 4x4 (3.5 inches 88.9 mm) in one pass. The saw would only have to be a bit larger to accommodate the extra cutting depth.

I'm afraid nothing.
It only arrives here in September/October and will not be widely available as with the HKC 55 these days.
So you'll have to wait for the new machines for at least 6-12 Months.
The new sys/sortainers might arrive sooner (Christmas?)

I cannot find an 85, but I see that there is a  HK132 with planer, groover and sawing -- that looks pretty slick.

Hi
The 132 is from the Protool range and is a beast of a machine. Sadly not available in the UK but is in Europe

I use a HK 132 with the different heads and in my view it is far better than any of the competition, so an 85mm, 7kg saw with the same power as the 132 is going to kill off the competition, and at last Festool is making a portable circular saw that won't cut out the minute it see's a piece of lumber

55 saw:
https://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?pid=561760&name=HK-55-portable-circular-saw-HK-55-EQ-Plus-GB-110V

1200W, 2000-5200 variospeed, 4.4kg (w/out guide rail i think). Blades still 1.8 + 2.2 for aluminum etc. No mmc electronics, no ec-tec engine, has fast-stop.

85 saw (!!!):
https://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?pid=574669&name=HK-85-portable-circular-saw-HK-85-EB-Plus-GB-240V

2.3 kV (10A with 230V)
only 7.0 kg (!)
all blades are 25mm.
No mmc electronics, no ec-tec engine, has fast-stop.
and new upgrade for this saw:
https://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Accessories/Pages/Detail.aspx?pid=200163&name=Accessories-for-HK-85-portable-circular-saw-VN-HK85-130x16-25

Very nice, but the price is ... Like good router.

Dont forget to add 1.26kg (420 guide rail).

new systainers:

Fix, mafell has too 25mm blades.

So:
1.) 7.0kg + 1.26kg with 8.8kg mafell. Fe wins.
2.) 420mm cross guide rail + custom length with 370mm mafell. Fe wins.
3.) More stock blades by Fe.
4.) 85-62-47mm cut (0-45-60 degrees), with rail looks like 80-56-38.5mm. Mafell has 88mm w/out guide rail, 82mm with. Same.
5.) Much better accessories by mafell with $600 groove unit by Fe.
6.) Sys-compatibility by Fe (!!!), has bag case for guide rail.
7.) HK 85 is cheaper even in Germany.
8.) Maybe mafell engine are better then Fe, will see. Btw no fast stop at kss 80ec (x3 more times for full stop, but more durable and less noisy).

I do hope you mean 2.5 mm blade thickness and not 25 mm?
Then it would be a groove cutter.
Please correct if possible.

The winner for Festool is that it is a baby 132 and the 132 is the daddy of all saws,

Just announced: an EC 125 to go alongside the EC150, but oddly it has a 3mm stroke instead of the ETS 125's 2mm stroke.

I found it odd as well, but i think they are adapting to the fact the old ETS125 was too limited in power and stroke. Many people bought it because they were used to 125mm sanders and were very disappointed, not realizing it was a pure finish sander.

The EC125 has 400W, that is twice the power of the ETS125, the same as the EC150 models, this makes me think this could just be an EC150/3 with a 125 pad??

I also wondered why Festool cannot design an ETS EC sander with 2 pads Ø125/150?
Just like Bosch and Mirka has.
The same goes for a RTS/DTS sander with a pad connection like the LS 130.

Autumn is well and truly on its way here in Germany, the sun is shining and the leaves are falling.
I was looking to see if anyone had bought - Tested or Reviewed the new Sortainers.
200117 - Combi 2, 200118 - Combi 3, or the Sort 3 200119.

I couldn't find anything in the surch machine. Maybe I over looked a Post.
You guys are usually quick off the mark with the new releases.

Anyone tryed the new plastic boxes?

Thanks
Pip
