Matthew asked me a month ago to introduce ourselves but because we wee in the middle of a move I was way too overwhelmed. We decided to sell Festool about 8 months ago because the Domino concept just blew us away. Second my first job out of college was as a designer for Black & Decker and I'm appalled at what has happened  to the quality of most power tools and we personally use Festool in our shop. Thirdly With everyone charging the same for Festool products, dealers have to compete on service. which frankly is what we are good at so. Now that we have moved to larger quarters in Brooklyn we have pallets of inventory showing up every few days and slowly we will get the stuff on-line. WE have a lot more in the showroom than we do on-line and it's a huge effort getting everything shipshape and computerized. But I'm tired of telling people we don't have inventory yet and it's good be be getting up to speed.
Anyway THe real purpose of this post is a friendly hello to the users group,  and hope that you will find our service  the way it should be, and there will be no need for posts about how we screwed up.

thanks,
joel

Nice Welcome Joel,

Nice to see another hand tool user see the beauty of the domino.  All those high quality handtools that I have, really makes you sensitive to poor quality powertools and poor ergonomics.

I do have a question, do you do live demos of Festool in your showrooms in NY?  That would be an interesting dichotomy of powertools and all those serious neander tools you sell!

Hello Joel
Welcome to the FOG.
I like the look of your online store. Nice selection of products.
Good luck in your new building. I hope you sell a ton of stuff.

Brad,
We are still setting up our Showroom. The first part of the Festool display will be up monday or tuesday, and the pegboard for the hand tools went up on Friday. The multifunction table right now is performing an undocumented function - it is commandeered for part of my desk until I can get a proper desk. but yes we use Festool in the shop ourselves and it's a no brainer if we have the tool to plug it in an let a customer see it in action. I don't really see a dichomony between hand and power tools. for modern sheet goods especially power tools will work quickly and accurately, but for a lot of small cuts a hand saw is a lot faster than figuring out how to cut something by machine. The right tool for the job is the right tool for the job.

Joel,

Wecome aboard!  FOG is a great forum.  Having ordered non-Festool from you before, I'm aware of your product quality and service.  From personal experience, I know that you fit in well with the other top-notch Festool Dealers on the forum.

Best regards,

Dan.

p.s., if you need PSA or non-PSA 3M micro-abrasive films for sharpening your chisels, planes, and other blades, Tools for Working Wood has the best selection I've found.

Joel

One more Welcome aboard! Dan makes note of items you sell for sharpening planes, chisels and other blades.  Your large stock of files is hard to beat. I have used them far more than I ever thought possible. I need to get some other sizes. Great files. You will pick up knowledge that will help you in your Festool sales here.

Best Regards

I'm glad you're on the forum Joel and I'm glad your move to a larger space will allow you to really stock and and show Festool, but I'm sorry that the only Festool dealer in Manhatten (that I knew of) is gone. Does anyone know a place in Manhatten to send people to pick up vac bags etc.?

We are 35 minutes door to door from union square. (36th street on the N or D line.) THere is no other dealer I can think of - and of course by mail order you get the stuff next day.

Joel,
I see on your web site, that you sell AngleMach. I have two for review and have been waiting to see how their supply to you is doing since Jeff's untimely death. What can you tell me. Use email if better jlucasils@aol.com

Anglemag is still on the market and we will continue to carry it for the foreseeable future. After Jeff's untimely death the firm is being run by his son and daugher. Both of whom helped him out at shows and know the business. It's a great thing to have kids who not only know what you did for a living - but also want to carry on.
