Eric and Dan give the Carvex a spin, literally. Check out their video review and share your thoughts of the review and Carvex if you own one.

 
Interesting video -- I thought it was funny that they did not know the names of the tools.  But, I thought the review was sincere.  I love my Carvex and the thing I think that is really nice about it is that it truly feels like an extension of my hand -- the weight and balance is among the best of any jigsaw I have used and this helps allow for more accurate cuts -- doing joinery with a jigsaw is achievable with the Carvex and difficult with other saws that might vibrate more or not cut accurately.  My favorite attachment is the circle cutter -- hands down the best circle cutter for a jigsaw on the market.

The excellent reviews by members here have spoiled me - much more information, illustration of the tool within the design of the system approach...
 
I blame Tim the Toolman for a lot of these reviewer formats.

LoL [big grin] ... I loved watching him - but it's lead to so many poor knock offs and wannabes.
 
That was probably the worst review I have seen on a tool. The guy couldn't even remember if his drill had an LED light or not.
 
Pls tell me this is a SNL skit done by stand-ins for chevy chase and jon belushi.  [scratch chin]

Extolling the vurtues of festool without dust colletion part of review?  Again, great paradody piece.  Hope that was the point.  ???
 
i wouldn't want these guys reviewing anything of mine. i found one of their videos on another product and was blown away at how bad they are at this. i feel like they would provide good reviews if my grandmother wanted to buy my grandfather a tool. really terrible, just terrible "review". i hope their not getting paid for these.
 
Not impressed with their knowledge or approach.  Far better and more informative reviews online.

 
Not trying to be mean, but maybe they should change their name from "Tools in Action" to "Fools in Action" :)
 
I personally don't like the video review of these two idiots. I have seen those two before a while ago reviewing drills.

I agree with everyone here when you all said it's a terrible review of the Carvex, but if you look at their other videos they're all terrible reviews. I'm 99% sure Dan works in IT (so he probably only uses just a small bag of hand tools) and I have no idea if Eric even works with tools professionally or not but I doubt that as well because Dan is always taking shots at Eric for winning the lottery and Eric takes shots at Dan for never using any tools.

Their reviews are funny to me, I don't look at them for real purchasing advice though. They have a lot of bias when reviewing things too. If they're not reviewing a high end brand they will shoot it down as a DIY tool without actually putting it through any challenges. I'm sure if they didn't know anything about Festool they would've said it was cheap DIY tool during this review but I guess someone must've given them a quick introduction because they sure seem to pump it up without showcasing any of its unique features or the superior dust collection.

How an you imply such a thing?  My entire (paid) career and was in IT and I found many of my fellow workers to by very knowledgeable woodworkers.

(p.s. I'm not upset by your statement, just curious as to why you would make it.)
 
Very often when a new tool comes out I'm watching one of their videos.  They may not have a serious reviewers approach, but there are few videos to choose from before a tool is released to the public.  The fact I see a video made by these guys for many of the new tools I buy is a credit to them, forgetting how bad they may be.  They are TRYING to represent the average guy I GUESS, and what I think festool will like is how blown away they are by the features festool offers.  The review may not be liked by everyone, but I walked away wanting the tool.  Debbie Downer didn't like the review either, but she complains about everything.

If you wanted the tool based upon that review, you are in real trouble.    [tongue]

And I think that you just insulted the average guy.  ???
 
My guess is that these guys are all about driving traffic to their site and generating ad revenue via links and a high rating by Google.  Their site looks cluttered with links and no real content whatsoever. They may generate substantial ad income and good for them I guess but, ohter than that, I don't see anything useful on their site.  Do I care that they are using Festool in this way?  Probably a little.

(Don't own a Carvex...yet)
