Hello Everyone

This video was made to help answer a couple of recent queries. It is a fairly basic introduction to the use of the trammel with the Carvex PSC 420 and the OF 1400 router. At the very end there is a useful bit of information about the OF 1400 guide fence which may not be generally known - it can act as a trammel without modification.

Here is the link:

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the effort here  [smile]

A small favour - any chance of a closer pic or a brand name for that trusty guide bush set you were using please?

cheers,

Kev.

Well done Cliff - that is the right set. I bought them just after Christmas and have used them quite often. They are well made and (here in the UK) not very expensive. If I had to buy 8 Festool copying rings I would have had to pay 3 or 4 times as much.

Clever way of doing the center hole? Do you have any nice radii? Or just the mean ones! LOL.

thanks peter.
i like that tip for the of1400 fence tramel

Hi Alan

I was about to make up a trammel using the OF1400 guide rods (that come with the fence) and when I took it all apart and started measuring things - bingo - the carriage, turned upside down, sits on the same flat surface as the router with the rods connected. The big knob, or rather the thread connected to the knob, could then be used as the trammel (pivot) point.

Now I reckon that there are some brilliant engineers at Festool Central and I believe that one of them knows that this works the way it does - and what's more, he knows that I know that he knows this to be the case!

Hi Peter,

I have tried to find out if the Axminster templete guide bush set will fit the OF1010 but without luck.Would you happen to know if they can be used with the OF1010 and if so can you tell me which Festool copying ring I should buy to allow the template guides to be used.

Thanks

Matthew

Hi Matthew

I am afraid I do not know the answer. In my experience I have found the Axminster technical people really helpful - give them a ring on the free phone number. Let us know how you get on.

Nice job Peter, never thought to do that round over bit trick.

However, as soon as you started talking, all I could do was sing "I like to use the tram-a-lot!" In my head!

Hi Matthew

Many thanks for posting the answer - I have always found the Axminster technical people to be really helpful - that is how I discovered the solution for the OF1400 which then led me to discover the UJK guide bush set.

Hi Peter,

I'm new here in the FOG forum. Thank you for the great tips concerning circle cutting with the jig sawand the router. The metric UJK guide bushes are also of great interest for me.
