Hi, I'll be travelling from Europe to NY in december, and wonder if any of you know which hardware store I should visit. I'm interested in Festool of course, but also Fein and other pro power tools, as well as hand tools. Obviously, good prices and wide assortment is important...

Bst regards/

Try ACE TOOLS  in Long Island NY and/or FORCE MACHINERY in Union NJ. Both not far from Manhattan.

Don't miss Tools For Working Wood, 32 33rd Street, 5th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11232 TFWW

Old & new handtools as well as power and Festools.  They are also tool manufacturers, as well as GREAT people to deal with.

Ooopppps, correct, TFWW is a good place to visit and Joel is a pleasure to meet.

Thank for answering! Searched through their web sites, and it seems hard to say which one is cheapest (to be honest the most important factor, as the price difference compared to Europe is one main reason to travel). Guess I'll have to decide what stuff to buy before travelling, and then compare actual prices on those goods.

I don't know what the prices/discounts  are on other tool brands, but ALL Festool prices are the same in the USA.
