Is it possible that the attachment is quite useless for circles below 40 cm diameter?
What blade can be used. I was using both the thicker Carvex-blade which resulted in burn like a bonfire. The thinner 'Japanese' blade worked better but is far,far away from being 90 deg. relative to the surface. To keep the radius i hade to apply pliers to tighten the setscrews.
I think i would have gotten a better circle freehand.
Anyone else with the problem? What blades are recommended for circles?

A 40cm diameter should be possible it isn't that tight of a curve.  What was the specific blade number you were using? What are you cutting?  I would try an FSG blade unless that is what you already tried. Also make sure the pendulum  is set to zero.

Yes, your problem is the blade. The S 75/4 FS is for making straight cuts only. So the blade has been fighting to keep going straight while the circle jig has been fighting to get the saw to turn. I've had that problem with that blade every time, and typically get the burnt wood with it too.

You need the S74/4 FSG or the S 75/4 K blade. The FSG as Seth recommended should be perfect for a bigger circle like you're making. Think of the "K"  as being for fine curves. You will even feel the difference as you cut with either of these blades.

Nope. Been using S 75/4 FS blade. You think that might be it?

Yup, as Qwas said, that's it.  The FSG has teeth  set to the outside. Making a kerf a bit wider than the blade body, and allowing them to cut into the side  (so to speak)  as you turn the saw.

The FS has teeth that are set inline with the blade body to give smoother cuts.

This short thread was very helpful.  I am getting ready to cut some circles with my Carvex.  Knowing what type of blade to use will be helpful.

At the Fesdrool Demo day here at Acme Tools Steve Bace used the Carvex freehand to cut a 1" circle  - or would that be a plug?

???

The sides were straight and looked quite decent considering how fast he cut it. 40 cm - with the correct blade - should be a piece of cake!
