Triton coming back to Australia

This is an interesting development, it seems Timbecon over here have bought out Triton bringing the brand back to Oz!

They're a pretty forward thinking company so it'll be interesting to see what changes this brings:

This is good news, Triton, way back when, seemed to initially offer good products at a competitive price. Then somewhere along the line, they became side tracked with tools that were clunky and had poor ergonomics. I hope this straightens things out for them.

When they brought the workcentre out it was just revolutionary, absolutely amazing bit of kit that opened up woodworking avenues to hobbyists previously insanely expensive.

You would have been hard pressed to not see one in most peoples sheds.

The workcentre is what launched Triton into the stratosphere, a modular table that you could fit a circular saw or jigsaw, or even router, and use it as a conventional tablesaw, router table, jigsaw table, or move the sliding plate with the router, saw or jigsaw to above the table to use it like a radial arm saw to dock or crosscut timber.

I really can't underscore enough the impact this had on the DIY scene in Australia, it literally exploded

And then of course there was the Mark 2 and the Mark 3 which everybody had to have!.

Interesting .. always thought the Triton Workcentre /the current flimsy generation/ was just a homage to the Festool BASIS/CMS while it was the descendent of the original in fact .. interesting.

Lets hope the new owners see them correcting course. They could do soo much better than they are doing now. On many aspects I see them just-below the threshold of a quality product. There is very little they would need to do to cross that threshold under a good management with an actual strategy to pursue.

The guys at Timbecon are pretty switched on so it will be really interesting where they take the brand.

The attached pic is with the saw in overhead mode. The table is clipped into the lower (height adjustable) section and the saw frame is flipped upside down so you can cut ply, beams, etc.

Ingenious system, tables held in by two pins, comes apart in seconds, while being amazingly robust and firm in use.

I had a Mk3 plus router table which built my workshop and everything else around my house. They were sold by the thousands and AFAIK preceded any similar styles of portable types of saws.

As far as I know they were never sold here in the US.
