I know the FOG generally has a no-politics rule, but this is such a big current affair I felt it sort of transcends the "no politics" dictum.
Even as a Brit, I'm immensely interested in this and tonight's debate looks like the first leg of the the final straight of the race to the White House. On the one hand you've got Hillary Clinton, who in general terms is a pretty unpopular politician, yet against Trump she seems (at least IMO to the thinking man) like the safest of safe harbours.
Ordinarily I'd think that Trump hasn't got a cats chance in h ell, but based on how the Brexit vote went in my own country, I've seen first hand how democracy can fall down if a normally apathetic non-voting subset of the population is appealed to with some thinly (or not so thinly) veiled prejudice.
So, what are your thoughts ahead of tonight's debate? Will Trump continue to be the loud showman, or will he change tact and approach the situation with a little more diplomacy and presidentialness (I made a new word).
Thoughts?
