Trying to build a table top for the first time

So last Wednesday I rescued 8 old boards from a neighbours garbage pile. They are 8' long, 11" wide and 1.5" thick. I started planing them down and they look great. Decided to start making a rustic knotty pine table top. Will probably be somewhere around 9' long and 40" wide.
Cheers,
JC

Well here is the top all glued up. It's 9' tall, 42" wide and 1.25" thick.
Would anyone have any thoughts on how I detail the edge. I don't want to make it ornate. trying to keep it rustic looking. As for a base any ideas as well. I want to make the base out of knotty pine to match the top.

Thanks,
JC

A bevel using a saw? Or handplane.

Some small round over using a router? Or hand plane or sand paper.

I would not purposely distress it, but if you have a slick or bisque then why now use it.

So a trestle base?

Silly question now JC, but you did put a moisture meter on it to make sure it was reasonably dry before you did a solid wide board glueup. Thats table making 101. 1/4" round over bit on the edge, it will still dent like crazy but not as bad as a sharp edge. Something that thin would also be interesting with a knife edge.
