I have the TS 55 R and I have been working on a site where one of the guys has a TS 55 R and it has an upgraded base on it. You can now adjust it so that 0 degrees is accurate rather than like mine you can't adjust it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change to the updated base and if it's a big job??

We should get a free upgrade as it was obviously a bad design ;)

My understanding is that there are only certain classes of the saw that can accommodate the upgrade without swapping out for a wholly new base.  There's a thread from a few months ago that goes into detail about it, but I can't seem to find it right now.  But I'm sure if you posted this in the Ask Festool subforum they should be able to clarify.

Ya joiner1970 I feel the same way as well. In fact when I got mine I sent it in twice to be set correctly, ended up wit a replacement saw and it was still the same so I lost interest in sending it in again as they obviously couldn't set it properly

It cost me a lot of time the other day as I cut up 9 sheets of 18mm mdf only to find the edges weren't square. Yeah I should have checked with a square but i didn't have to with my old ts55. You set it to the end stops and it was bang on every time.

I mounted a grup/set screw in one of the holes of my TS 55R. It's located just behind the mitre device.
I think there are pictures on the FOG of others who did the same.
The cost for replacing the base and other parts at €135 is not worth it.
Better buy a new saw then and sell the other.
