Forgive me if this has been covered. Search didn’t return any results.

I have a relatively new track saw and went to use it today and the trigger and release button are locked in place. The plunge mechanism and start button can’t be engaged at all. The roving knife is also partially out and will not click back into the body. The blade lock also won’t full engage so the blade clicks as it turns but won’t lock so it can be removed.

Am I missing something or does this guy need to go in for service?

Thanks

You could remove the blade cover easily (5 screws) and look visually to see if there is something jammed possibly in the riving knife retraction mechanism.  It seems odd that the riving knife is only partially retracted. You could also use a wood block to keep the blade from rotating once the cover is off to remove it for further inspection.  Might be worth a try.

Take care not to loose the small spring that is on the anti splinter window up front as they can sometimes fall out when the blade cover is removed.

Operate the blade change lever once (the one to lock the blade half-out so you can change it), should do the trick.

If that dosn't do it: if under 3 years old send it in to get it fixed by Service all Included (=free).
