Ts55 and FSK rails or equivalent

I am very new to the whole Festool world. I was convinced by some people I trust and took the plunge so to speak on a TS55. I live in a remote area so the only realistic way to buy tools like this is online, so I don't often get the benefit of testing before buying. My TS55 has arrived and I realize I made a mistake in ordering a FSK rail with it. I did a fair amount of research and was convinced that I saw a video saying that they were compatible and in hindsight I can only guess that I'm horibbly mistaken. I was really thrilled at the idea of having the ability to select very specific specific angles to cut, but alas and now I am wondering why the TS55 is incompatible with these tracks and there being no similar alternative. At least not in South Africa, despite there being quite a following here, but I'll admit I may have missed something. The FSK is brilliant and I just can't understand the logic here.

The FSK guide rails came out at the same time as the HK55 and HKC55 saws. These saws are backwards compatible with the FS guide rails.

Festool makes an angle gauge (forget the proper name) that works with the FS guide rails. This would accomplish your intent, although you would want to clamp the FS guide rail to the work piece.

It's still early enough. Call your dealer and see about returning the FSK rail for an exchange for the FS rail if it's not too much trouble to ship it back. If you ordered from outside mzansi, then it may not be practical to ship back. In that case, you're stuck with it, and might have to buy the HK55 or HKC55 saw for heavy lumber one day. Or you could try to advertise it on junkmail.
Good luck.

If the above is correct, then you need to return the TS 55 and exchange it for a HK/HKC 55 which uses the short FSK rail.  Both the HK/HKC will also work on the standard FS rails for longer straight cuts.

And  [welcome]  to the FOG.

Hopefully the OP comes back around at some point and we could suggest which saw might be better. From a logistics perspective, shipping rails might be easier than shipping saws.
