The fine tooth blade gives excellent results with my ATF 55 which can't use the green (outboard) splinter guard.
The finish itself significantly reduces tearout.
If you do get tearout (more likely when crosscutting) you can reduce the cutting depth to just a couple of mm to score through the veneer then repeat at "full" depth. Assuming you have the guide rail secured so it doesn't move between passes.
