TS55 Kickback

It's like playing Turkey in the Straw on a Stradivarius.  I guess you could do it but really......

I wouldn't risk the saw on that kind of cut.  How many times can you do that before you start getting some arbor run out?  I don't have that kind of money.  I need it to make finsih cuts in prefinished plywood and melamine on both sides of the blade.  I need if to make dust cuts or jointing cuts on the first edge of 8' rough cut hardwood.  You can make furniture with a TS55.  I'd cut 2x's with a hand saw before I'd use my TS55 for that.  But I don't have to because I have both corded and a cordless Makita saws and an old beat up SCMS for that.

Jerome,

I note that Festool apparently thought it a good idea to add a clutch (torque limiting mechanism) to the TS 75 saw.  They could do the same for the TS 55 if they wanted to.  As I said, my cheapo Craftsman and Skillsaw both had simple torque limiting mechanisms -- a coined (belleville) washer under the flat washer bearing directly on the bolt head and a predetermined recommended fastening torque achieved by turning in the bolt a specified angle amount after taking up the slack in the assembly.  I use my TS 55 on the guide rail, and my Skillsaw otherwise and thereaby avoid most kickback situations.  I agree there is no real market for this as an accessory item for a TS 55.
