Hello all,

I just purchased the parallel ripping guide for my TS55 and I am a little disappointed.  There seems to be a "dead zone" in the adjustability of width.  I was trying to make a bunch of 5" rips (just narrow enough so that the guide rail gets a little wobbly) and I couldn't set the guide to 5".  On the blade side, the rods aren't long enough and you can't lock them down at 5", and on the other side the base is larger than 5".  Has anyone else had this issue?  Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks

Vinny

I am talking about this guide.  I believe that is different than the one you are referring to

Vinny,

I don't believe you are doing it wrong, I've had the same issue myself with that guide.

The only thing I can tell you that may help - I'm not sure the measurement I was trying to get to - so I'm not sure this will work for you.

I removed the safety collar (you can see it on one rod in your picture) having gently prized mine off (it seems to be a press fit) i got to the cut I was trying to do.

My colllar (btw) now lives in the bottom of the saw systainer - it's purpose seems to be to stop you trying to get too tight on the blade side of the saw - in other words without it you could run the rail up against the saw blade - I decided (hoped) I'd notice that before cutting into the rail so i left the little collar off.

Thanks for the tip Steve.  I will have to give it a try tomorrow.

It seems that if the rods were 2" longer, there would be no "dead zone".  BUT it would no longer fit into the systainer...
