I just watched this recently uploaded video from Skill Builder comparing the Festool TS55 to the Mafell MT55CC:  It's a long video at just over 40 minutes, but I usually play back most YouTube videos at 2x speed so it wasn't so bad.

They didn't say which saw was better, it was more just a comparison of each saw's features.  Despite its long run time, I found the comparison pretty interesting.

Thanks for sharing. Pretty interesting and educational (it was too long for me and so I skimmed over for the salient points).

I have a TS75 and being a tablesaw woodworker, I don't think I will be looking for another track/plunge saw in this woodworking life of mine.

Thanks for posting this.  It was very interesting indeed.  I have a TS55REQ and find it underpowered on occasion, but am generally very happy with the tool.  I really like the Mafell window-less blade cover and well designed dust extraction features within the blade guard.  I also like the one knob bevel adjustment with the internal linkage to the rear pivot.  I think I would really miss the horizontal handle that the Festool sports.

The Mafell track looks like a real winner and the onboard connector plate is ingenious.  It will be interesting to see if or how many similarities exist in the soon to be available Bosch track saw due in the US this fall.

I liked these guys (compared to a pair of youtubers on this side of the pond).  I think the only thing they missed is removable insert in the Mafell base that allows it to run on the Festool track.  Otherwise they did a good job for a first run at the Mafell.  I’m going to look at a few more of their videos.

Indeed very interesting  [eek]

Sad that the guy do not know much about how to operate the Mafell saw, makes the comparison a bit unfair. It's hard to comment on a saw you never touch but the Mafell base sound like a toy to me. It's hard to not be bias when you own only one of the two.

As ambidextrous* I always drive the saw from my left hand, so I never try to reach for the TS55 handle, instead I tend to hold the board with my right hand when needed.

I find the blade guard flipping interesting for when you want to clean debris inside the blade guard. To change the blade? I'm using the TS55 for 8 months so far and never change the blade yet, it's basically used to rip plywood and the blade still cut like new.

I believe the biggest problem with Mafell is the lack of showcase. Personally I like to try the shoes before any purchase. especially at that cost. I wish there was a local store I could walk in and have a real look at it.

I don't think anything Mafell makes can be classified as "toy" in that sense. Nor are you probably their typical target customer, judging from your proclaimed use of your TS55.

That's not meant as a dig, I just feel that those features are probably quite useful for someone who uses a track saw everyday for many different types of cuts and who has no problem paying top dollar.

They mentioned their next video is on the Mafell P1 cc jig saw.  [smile]

Here's a complete list of their other videos.
