Have just ordered my new TS55R from Slingers (brilliant company with faultless service as always from Steve) for delivery in April. I'm really pleased with the deal I got and once I use it I'll be reporting back. I bought my original TS55 in 2004 for approximately £325 with one 1.4m guide rail. It works absolutely fine and has never had any problems. And more important has been the finest tools, in terms of ability and the return on my investment, that I have ever owned.
I thought now would be a wise time to trade-up for the extra features of the TS55, the negative angle feature in particular. and the reassurance of the theft protection warranty. I plan to Ebay the old TS55 without the guide rail and it should readily fetch £200 if not more. I will also sell the new rail for £50 or so and use the old rail for the new saw. So (hopefully) 7 years of TS55 ownership will have cost me less than £100 - (a few pence per day). I think it is absolutely amazing than Festool ownership can cost so little and a real testament to the quality of Festool tools that they have real value to second-hand purchasers.
Thanks you Dr Reschke!
