ts75 riving knife stuck.

Hi.

I bought my ts75 about 6 months ago. Today, for the first time, I tried to change/remove the riving knife. The hex bolt is so tight that the hexkey was starting to buckle when trying to get the bolt to open. I even tried tapping the hexkey lightly with a hammer to release the bolt but no luck.

Have any of you guys encountered this problem, if so how did you get the bolt loose?

I'd really need the saw this weekend but if im not able to change the riving knife im gonna have to take the saw for warrenty repair...

Do you have a small torch like the ones that go on the little propane or mapp gas cylinders?  Use a small flame to heat up what I believe is thread lock compound giving you a hard time.  Just heat the screw head without burning anything like paint on the saw.

On the atf type saws you have to remove the riving knife to perform plunge cuts, but on the TS saws the riving knives are springloaded and slide out of the way when doing plungecuts. When I read the thread title I thought it was "stuck" in the way it wouldn't retract.

I'm mounting the saw to a cms unit and i need to change the original riving knife to the cms riving knife.
Sorry about the topic name,didnt really think that one through. I just cant get the damn thing out :/

PB blaster would be better then wd.

If it's thread lock compound, PB or WD won't make a bit of difference.  If it's dirt or rust, yes.

i had the exact same problem with my ts-75 cms-ge  when i was changing the riving knife to suit the cms-ge.
i was able to use brute force but thanks to ken, i will be using his method of a gas torch or soldering iron to release the thread lock compound.

          I regularly use my 75 in the cms with the standard riving knife.Iknow the dust extraction isn't quite so good but it's not far off.Just a thought ....

Try an impact driver or small air impact.
