Hi guys
Is anyone having problems with the battery life indicator lights on the tsc55 cordless plunge saw?
When the batteries are fully charged, I start up the saw and the top light go straight down to two lights , it's saying that the top battery has less that 70%charge.
Festool say that they have had a problem with the electronics, but I'm on my forth saw that they have sent me and it's still doing it.
I've tried using batteries that have been charged a lot and its still doing it. Is it me been silly and expecting to much. Help

Being in the USA, we don't have the cordless saw yet, but how long are you putting the battery on the charger for?  The reason I ask, is because when I first used both my syslite and CSX I followed the charging recommendations, and the light and drill wouldn't last long.  After charging for several hours, the battery life improved a lot.

Hi mate thanks for your reply
Yeah I've tried leaving them on charge for hours still no good.

Wow four replacement saws must be a record in such a short time ?
if as you have mentioned it's a known electronics issue very strange the replacement saws have the same characteristics , no doubt festool will resolve this problem but where does that leave you at present ? A fifth saw?
That being said you cant fault festool service regarding replacements just the electronics have to be questioned and knowing festool I bet those men& women back in germany are looking at those issues right now.

Just a little thought have you tried the batteries in other 18v cordless tools. See if that shows any problems.

My local festool store told me its normal that the top battery draws more power than the other , but does yours show low percentage of charge as soon as you plug both batteries into the saw ?

Hi
I met up with Philip from festool uk today.
He checked my latest saw and he assures me
It's ok, and I totally trust his opinion .
This saw is loads better than my last one and the top two light do go down quite quick but
I think that's normal.
But you are right festool customer service is outstanding and that's
All that matters.

Thanks for starting this thread. I checked my saw and found the same problem which can be verified by swapping the batteries over - bottom indicator shows three bars top only shows two even when you swap the batteries over. I've just spoken with Emma at Festool UK and a replacement is on it's way out to me to be swapped out for the 'faulty' one - it worked fine yesterday trimming an exterior oak door. Apparently the saws are having to go back to Germany to be rectified. I'm just surprised that they aren't issuing a recall, at the very least to those who've registered their tools.

is this an issue? having just bought the milwaukee fuel saw and being quite impressed im now interested in this model.
my main concern is having to charge 2 batts at a time, which is one of the reasons i went with the fuel.
would it be best to wait till they have ironed out the kinks?

Hi, yes it is a very good tool, i think they have got it spot on with the design, the depth setup is really quick and easy.
Its got a nice system to changing the blade, and the general feel of the tool is good. The only issue is with what we have written about, hopefully they have got it sorted out now. I’ve got four batteries for mine so it does work out expensive, I’ve had plunge and guide rail system saw’s for years now and i couldn’t do with out one, as festool are the only company i know of who are doing a cordless version i couldn’t resist. I bet the milwaukee fuel takes some beating tho.

Hey, yes im on my second ts55 the r version or latest model, i had the older model and beat the heck out of it for 5 years great tool!
My main concern is run time and having to invest a significant amount to have 4 batts and 2 chargers.
Im quite impressed with the fuel, currently im using my guide rail and pushing the fuel against the tall edge. Was handy for cutting some wedges to level some kitchen units, i feel a bit more confident using a sidewinder freehand compared to the ts.
I cant help thinking ill end up with the tsc as well at some point.
If i didnt have the panasonic impact, drill and small rotary hammer i would probably stump for the festool rotary hammer making this a bit more appealing. The fuel is my first cordless milwaukee purchase and now i have batts for using my milwaukee radio cordless which is convenient.
Festool should release a sensibly priced charger radio that would be interesting.
