I purchased the tsc55 because my old ts55 had finally bit the dust.  The tsc is a very nice saw, but the batteries don't last long at all.  I have 3 of the 14.4 volt batteries and they just don't last on this saw.  I am not opposed to upgrading my batteries but I wanted to see some feedback from other users.

Just to clarify, you're using the 14.4V rather than the 18V ones?  If the 14.4, then you will certainly be falling well-short of the company claim of 100 meter cut in 3/4 ply on two fully charged 18V batteries.

Battery life will vary dramatically depending upon the material type, thickness and the style of cut.  Certainly you can't run the TSC55 for a solid hour, but I find I do just fine cycling 4 18V batteries during cutting sessions, no matter the material.

IIRC top RPM is reduced and run time shorter using 14.4V batteries but the manual does say you can use them. It may also talk about mixing one 18v and one 14.4V but I don't remember for sure. Haven't opened the manual up since the first day.

I am very pleased with the battery life
I use 18V 5.2A batteries
Power is good dustcollection is good
Your saw deserves 2 new batteries and I
promise you vill be a happy camper
Cheers

Have to agree, there has been a few occasions where I have used a couple of the 14.4v batteries on the TSC to finish a job, it's no fun.

Agree here too- great saw and the 18v 5.2ah batteries last fine for me.

Another consideration is which 14.4 V batteries are you using? I believe Festool offered a 2.6 Ah, a 3.0 Ah & 4.2 Ah batteries. The 14.4 4.2 Ah battery is pretty good, however the other 2 offerings would definitely cause run-time issues.

On my TSC I regularly use 2 each 18 V 5.2 Ah and 1 each 14.4 V 4.2 Ah batteries. I just swap them around so one is always charging and two are always in the saw. However that means I never have more than one 14.4 battery in the TSC at a time. That makes a big difference.

Purchase a couple of 18 V batteries, you'll notice a huge improvement.
