TSO Bigfoot Alternative

Very nicely done! Must have been fun lining that up perfectly on the mill?
Actually not as difficult as you might think. I set up an angle plate that has a side fence and is known to be very square. Align that to the main axis of tge mill. Indicate the spindle to centre line of the part. Then I set the spindle at zero for the plate that is holding the smaller plate. Claml it to the reference plate and cut away. Added a couple of support pillars to the outer corners for support and vibration dampening. Small manual mills take a lot longer that a cnc almost anything. I don't take pics normally of making things. Just the parts. It probably could have been held in a vice, but it becomes a lot of unsupported stock and would require something to cushion the cast finish etc. Becomes more of a pain to make it that way.

To increase grip on my DF500 fence, I use this epoxy spray that people put on ladder steps, etc.

A couple of coats last quite a while before reapplication is needed.
I have had a look for that or similar product here in NZ and unable to find it. Amazon won't ship it to NZ. Its a good idea that spray.

Google: anti slip spray coat new zealand

But the price seems outrageous on my screen: $150. (Compared to $25 Cdn or $30 Nzd for a spray can of similar material here.)

You can try other sources or search terms.

Just an idea at this stage, the points work in really good light for seeing the pencil line. But I was thinking today that the point really should be a precision slot.
So looking at making another base, and this time using a 1mm slitting saw to create an alignment slot. That way when the pencil line is easier to see with an even amount each side if using a 0.5mm pencil, or full, if using a 1mm pencil.
