Only one pic so far, but it should get finished tomorrow, so there will be more. It's big 96" high and 120" wide, but only 6" deep. It goes into the lobby of a hotel, so no storage, mostly just an art piece.

That’ll be interesting to see the final product. The scoring marks are interesting to me.

It will be interesting to see you carrying it into its destination! It’s got to be 3-400 pounds and 8’ in its smallest dimension.

It's actually not that bad, weight wise. Three of us moved it off of my assembly table onto sawhorses this morning. It comes apart into two halves. The joint is to the left of the gap in the middle. That is what the black panel near the bottom is there for, it becomes the back of the groove. You can't see it too well in this pic though, the Bessey K body is in the way.

I got interrupted by too many other things to get it finished today, but it is close. There are base panels that cover the bottom opening, which is open to attach the whole thing to the wall.  There is also an extending tab at the top, for the same purpose. A 17" deep soffit covers that and hangs out over the front, aligning with the drywall soffit in the room.

Installed today and they actually remembered to take a couple of pics. I was quite proud  [big grin] they typically forget.

That looks great. Nice job.

Do the by lines tie in with other stuff in the decor?

Ron

Thank you all.
I don't know whether it matches anything that is already there, but nothing I have seen from our end does. There are a couple of room divider/screen things that I sent to the finish department, that are color-matched, but the diagonal line detail is not there.

Love the look of the slatted panel, too.

Is the show surface solid wood, or a high pressure laminate ?

It is HPL. That took almost all of 4 sheets of laminate, 2) 5 x 8, 1) 5 x 10 and most of a 4 x 8.

It's not obvious from the pics, but the "grain pattern" goes front to back on the bottom surface of the soffit part. This adds to the complexity a little, requiring more cutting/fitting.

Thanks 4nthony, its all 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" solid maple, except for the base. It is veneered ply that opens up on one side to help with install. They can screw down the base plate then slip the whole unit over it and attach the back. It's a mitered cap, so it will look like a solid piece, once assembled.
