Hello, long time reader but first time posting.  I've searched the forum and online but can seem to find the answer to this question.

Can the Festool extension wings made for the UG cart or MFT/3 table be setup to lay flat on a table top?  I'm looking to use the wings in a miter station build.  Looking to install the extensions in a similar way that the fast cap best fence bench top system is sold.

Simple answer, No.
With removal of legs and brackets, maybe but not really worth trying.
There are better options.

I have never tried it myself but the wings have brackets at the end with holes in which I have always thought were for this very purpose, I always presumed the brackets would make the wings the same height as the Kapex if they were all sat on a flat surface like a table?

I thought that when connected to the Kapex the bracket for the leg made it level. I need to try this and Report back. It may be a couple of days.

Here's a picture of my setup- not sure if this is what you are looking to do but works well for me.  If I need to go mobile, I just unhook the wings, pack everything up with my Kapex MFT, and I'm on my way.

Regards,
Gerald

Gerald_D, yes that's exactly what I am looking to do!  Thank you very much for the pic.  Did you have to make any modifications or anything?  Doesn't look like it to me judging from the picture.  Any stability problems or anything?

No modifications needed- which is why I like this setup.  I lose some storage options leaving the legs attached, but small price to pay when I do go mobile (which isn't too often).  I opted for the Kapex MFT vs the cart since it's usually setup in the shop, then I can use the MFT for another table- comes in handy.  If I was on the move, then the cart makes more sense.  The wings attach to the Kapex- a little finicky but solid when done correctly, so I really don't have any stability issues.  Wide boards can be an issue, although I use my MFT for those.

Regards,
Gerald

Thanks for posting. That is what I what I was thinking.

Have another yes; I do this from time to time with no mods or removal of any bits. It's a great feature when working somewhere and there's no room for a stand.

I'll give you the fourth  [thumbs up].  [big grin]

I've been wrestling with my current situation, a modified Milwaukee miter saw stand that works but I like your solution a lot. This gives me what I currently don't have, material stops on both ends and measuring tapes.  [smile]

I used this setup for the last couple years, and I love the convenience. Perfectly level with the Kapex table. I attached a magnet under each wing to keep the leg up out of the way for easy cleanup of the bench.

I like the idea of the magnet- never thought of that.  Will have to ‘steal’ that one.

Really cool, great work!  That's another example of what I had envisioned in my head for my future setup.  Thanks for the picture, it helps me out a lot.
