UG extension wing / MFT3 clamp knob clearance fix

I dont know that this issue has been covered much (saw something somewhere ) or resolved ,so sorry if Im behind on this one , but here are my findings on this.
      I tried the UG wings on the MFT3 and found the documented (somewhere?) clearance problem when tightening the clamp: The knob hits the extrusion with the flat clamp plate not fully engaged not allowing you to properly tighten it....The fix,wait for it ,slot the clamp hole(see picture) about 1/4".I added a washer as well.This does not cause any problem when installing back on the Kapex, and allows full engagement on the table with some extra knob clearance as well.This still makes me wonder : did someone in engineering not think to try fitting this to the mft3 ? You know,the compatible system thing , the same V-groove ... :. Well its a fairly easy fix if you have a die grinder or a drill press or a round file , or a milling machine.Happy slotting ...

I see that it works but I don't understand why.  The knob threads into the V-plate which does not move.  All your are doing is allowing the clamp to slide a bit.  The only way it could work is if the bolt has some slop.

Don, without the slot in the clamp he cannot push it far enough under the v-groove to hold without also pushing the bolt forward so far that it interferes with the flange. Compare the bolt position in the first and last shots and you can see the bolt is farther away in the last shot while the clamp is in the same place.

Yes , if you look at the second picture , you will see the v-plate is slotted , with a nut in the track , so it can move .
