I thought I would share my version of a storage box for the UJK Parf Guide System with a sliding lid.  I decided I would try dye for the lid and used a icing dye in copper by Wilton.  I then sealed the wood with 5 coats of Minwax satin wipe on polyurethane.  There is even room for the instructions.  I still have to find a magnet to hold the 3mm bit.  Its made from 9mm Russian Baltic Birch plywood with a 4mm lid.

That's very nice.
At first I thought here's someone with too much time on their hands, but on reflection the parfguide system is not something you're gonna use all that often so to keep it in a good quality storage box actually makes a lot of sense. Well done!

Yes, it was a lot of work, but the system comes in a 4 foot round tube with the parts in plastic bags.  Not an easy thing to access or store easily.  This way I can open it up and use what I need right out of the box and everything is protected from damage.  I have never used dye as a finish before and thought it would be a good thing to try and match the UJK colours.  Its hard to tell in the pictures, but the dyed grain looks really cool.  Would be better with a gloss finish I think, but I may just keep adding layers of satin and see where that goes.

Excellent work - I like the idea of the top opening which is an improvement on my own efforts.

I still have mine in its original tubes, If it survived the postal system handling from UK to New Zealand, then it will live happily in my workshop.

I used my UJK Parf guide and made my MFT table using Saligna, or Sydney Blue Gum (no blue tho). the hole is very very tight for the UJK dogs I bought. definitely not as easy as it seems on Youtube with table top made of MDF.

That is an amazing top.

The holes are designed to be quite tight in MDF and so I am not sure about your wood. You can use a little Vaseline in the holes that you use most for the dogs. After time they will ease a little as the wood dries further.

I read your comment (no glue tho) and I was like HOW?

The first time I read your comment I read glue instead of blue so I was a bit confused  [wink]

Awesome top by the way.

Just saw this post I have parf guide system mark 1 and 2 both are great to make replacement tops and jigs. I will use the design for boxes for safe keeping of my PGS. GOOD WORK!
