UJK Parf Guide System - Videos

Just got one delivered here in Adelaide, Australia. I must say I was rather impressed with the service from Axminster. I got the usual 'our team will contact you shortly' being an international order. I had a freight quote within 12 hours, on a weekend! I was initially a little shocked at the freight cost, but not like I can get it anywhere else. That shock settled when I realised the size/weight of the package once it arrived amd the fact they got it to me halfway around the world faster than our local post service can get me a parcel 4 suburbs away lol.

Looling forward to giving it a good work out on the weekend.

Brilliant.

I am sorry about the shipping cost.

Just watched your PGS News and Tips #2 video above Peter.
First I have seen of your nice storage box for your Parf Guide.

Do you have a video in the works covering the build or do you
plan to sell these at a later date.

I have some Walnut which would make a nice storage box for
my PGS.

@ Bob D    See Reply # 106 on this thread for Peter's video on the box build
Also go to this link -http://www.axminster.co.uk/media/downloads/102278_manual2.pdf for box build plans.
I posted photos of my box build using modified measurements at Reply # 183 on this thread.

I just wanted to add for those in NA, Lee Valley has hiked the price considerably since the introduction.  I checked axminster and it's still quite reasonable, which leaves plenty of cushion for the shipping charges.  The difference between them is $100 before you account for the shipping from each vendor.

Check your country settings and look again.  If you follow Peter's link you end up in the Canadian site and the price appears to be $239, where you might be expecting the previous $169.

Actually they HAVE raised it to 179 (up from 169), but that sounds like a more modest increase than you were implying.

Ha yea that happened to me, then I realized I wasnt signed in and it changed back to $179.

Ah you're right, sorry folks!  Peter's link took me to the more expensive site!  [doh]

Hehe...LV hardly has to be so mercenary to extract our money.  [tongue]

A comment has been added to my YouTube video  "Parf Guide System News and Tips #2". David Odlum has done the 5 cut test and measured his custom top, created with the PGS, to be within 0.00008039 of square !!

I have not met David, nor has he received any inducement by me or Axminster to do this test or make the comment.

Little disappointed today. Just received my Parf Guide System along with a couple sets of Dogs from LV and it came with the round shank bit 101841 I think is the model number on the bit package, don't have it right in front of me at the moment. Everything else looks correct. I would have thought by now that the round shank bits would have been flushed out of any remaining stock. Especially since their web page photo clearly shows the Centrotec drive bit (See screen shot from today below).

I will take this up with LV.

I would for sure, LV is known for their excellent customer service. Please let us know what happens for those of us who want to order in the future---

I bought  when the PGS was introduced. Last month I ordered the new bit from Axminster and found out it is back-ordered to July. The old bit works fine and I am willing to wait.

For those LV customers, it may be that those receiving the generation I bit are caught in the PGS generation II upgrade. Check your purchase price under the new pricing scheme. If there is a mistake, you may have to wait for production to catch up.

I ordered the new Axminster rail clips. I hope LV takes on these as well.

I am aware of their great service. I've bought close to $1K in product from them in the past few weeks.

Update: I emailed them just now, we'll see where it goes.

Just noticed that the stop collar is not there either, or is that only supplied with the hex shank bit.

To follow up I heard back from LV and they are looking into the issue.
So I expect to hear something from them on Monday, I'm certainly not
expecting anything to happen over the weekend and I was pleasantly
surprised to get a reply email today.

And I will let you all know how it works out but I'm not worried. I do
want the hex shank 20mm bit and that is why I ordered from them
when I saw it was included in the kit shown in the photo. I think it will
be much easier connecting/disconnecting from my drill.

Received the correct bit from Lee Valley today with the stop collar
and Allen key and a apologetic email the other day announcing that
the replacement was on its way. So in the end I got what I expected
and good to go.

I want to make a slab style work surface that I can lay over a pair of
horses to use for site work and not have to drag my MFT out from the
basement shop to cover those jobs.
