Hi all , found another eBay bargain, not quite as good as the pdc's but still good.

I won't post a link just search festool 500875 there's 2 dealers selling the centrotec wood sets for around £163.

Noooooo!!!!!!!

Stop tempting me with this! I don't need a Centrotec set, I don't need a Centrotec set, I don't need a Centrotec set...

[eek]

Perhaps a dedicated topic could be made e.g. UK Festool Bargains ?

Gary's roll board find was also a good price so i bought one.

One place has sold out.

Now I just want the other place to sell out so I can't buy one!!
Lol

I see n&b have put their price up to £170 that's who I went with at £163 as I've used them before

Just seen nuts and bolts have these back down to £161 with free postage on there site.

Needless to say I'm now £161 lighter!

They did have 17 in stock this morning.

Unless you live in the Highlands and then they penalise you for being a skirt wearing Haggis loving Scot!

I got mine shipped free to Aberdeen while I was there to fly the yearly simulator, but my original price was a bit higher than they are selling them for now.

What is really cool in the new set is the new centrotec female attachment on the manual driver.  I like it a lot.

Hi Frank.
Sorry it was just me getting on my soap box. Unfortunately I'm about 6 hours from Aberdeen (lovely city). It's just certain carriers charge (read penalise) you if you live in the Highlands and the retailers do nothing to remedy the situation, just blaming the carrier rather than finding other people to ship goods.  I just vote with my feet but there are talks about the Scottish Government doing something about this. In the last year I've spent circa £15K on tools and all that business has gone to a certain retailer because they dont make me feel like a leper, else they find a courier that is more reasonable.

A funny story. We wanted to buy a fruit cage. The retailer told us it would be £100 for shipping because of the distance. This retailer ships free of charge to anyone in England. My wife worked out that the distance from this retailer to southern Cornwall was greater than from the retailer to us! Go figure? We live on the mainland you dont need a boat to get to us so I dont understand why I have to be penalised.

(I've put the soap box away  :) )

Richy, try getting deliveries to Wick then,,,,,sorry, soap box away also.

Good find on the sets though.  Im not even going to have a look  ;D

It's not just the distance though. Cornwall has motorway/dual carriageway most of the way. Once you get north of Perth it's pretty much single carriageway all the way. It may be a shorter distance but it takes A LOT longer.

Also, the population up there is so small there's a lesser demand for carriers to go up there - a van going to Cornwall will be a lot more full than a van going to, for example, Thurso, therefore it costs more per parcel.

I understand your frustration though. It's just the price you have to pay for living in a beautiful, quiet, remote location.

Very true Jonny.
On the flip side i once priced a staircase for someone who upon some internet searching said that he could buy the same £100 cheaper from England.  Told him to crack on & left him to it.  Well 2 weeks later he was back in touch asking if i would still supply the staircase !  Turns out the delivery was around £300  ;D
