Hi all,

Random question, just wondering if any UK dealers sell Festool products with USA plug types.

I live between the two so trying to find some tools with USA plug types.

Thanks

I believe they do, but it would be helpful to know your UK location so a recommendation for a dealer can be made?

And in case we haven't said it yet,  [welcome] to the FOG!

Thanks for that and the welcome.

I am in London (SE1) but willing to travel or if they can make delivery.

That will help - thanks. Let's wait for the London guys to chime in, which I'm sure they will do very soon...

No they don't.

Maybe they can order it if you ask for it especially, but I don't know that.

I would think all you need is one of the 16 AWG plug-it cords, 490656.

Thanks Tom.

Not sure a plug-it cord with a USA Type A/B will work for chargers for cordless tools - think those are hard wired.

For corded tools, such as the OF 1400 router, if I purchase a 110V model and a new plug-it USA cord, will the motor be ok with both the 50hz and 60hz?

Yes, the motor is OK with 50 or 60 Hz.

For the charger, all you should need is a plug converter, either US-to-UK or UK-to-US. They are cheap and sold lots of places. I have a box of them I used when I lived in Europe. I bought them as a set and the whole set was less than one plug-it cord. That is an alternative solution to getting the cord I mentioned above.

Tom, do you know where I can grab one of these cords in the UK?

I would think you'd have to get someone to send it from NA. Maybe a dealer there can get them but I kind of doubt it.

Thanks Tom, got this sorted.

This isn't a Festool specific question, but is there anywhere in the UK I can buy a UK 110V (female) to US plug (male) (2 flat blade or 2 flat blade + ground) adapter lead? I know the US is 60hz, but where I am going to be using the tool is 110V/50Hz but uses US style plug sockets.

To update on this, Warren from Toolfest kindly ordered one of these from Festool Germany for me. However, when it arrived, he tried it on a UK 110V machine and it did not fit! So apparently, the US plug-it cords have different machine-side plugs than the UK plug-it cords.

Shame.

Hi guys

Whilst on the subject of plug it leads .does anyone know if it makes any differance which lead goes with which machine
As I tend to use just one lead which is cable tied to my vac hose but have noticed some leads are thicker than others

Yes - the larger 16 ga cable (490656) will work with all the tools, while the smaller 18 ga will not work with the higher amp tools.

Thought this may be the issue I had above. But I believe Warren tried with the 490655 and it didn't fit.

I use US festools in the UK. Ill have to borrow my buddies 110 plug it cord and see if they are different or maybe take a sander or something to my dealer and see if they fit

You can buy adapters at any hardware store here.
