First, a short explanation:

It all started when toolsandtimberguy posted on the forum for the first time - he's a UK Festool dealer based in Penrith, Cumbria. I was looking at his website & noticed that he has a Festool Surgery sheduled for this coming Friday, the 17th September.

Whilst it's a fair drive for me, I decided that I would go along, and meet up with a fellow FOG member (albeit a new one).

I mentioned this to another member based in the North-West, and he decided to come along too. Then I got in touch with another member, and he's also coming.

So, that's four UK FOG members, one of whom is a Festool dealer. Then I decided to throw this open to the forum & see if anyone else is available for a Mini-FOGfest!!! [thumbs up]

The Festool Surgery is being held at G&S Specialist Timber, Snuff Mill Lane, Penrith, CA11 0HA, Friday 17th September, from 1pm to 5pm.

Festool will be represented by Gordon Farrar, rep for the North-West, who will be there to demonstrate the tools & answer any questions about them.

I'm going to be meeting up with at least one other member for a pub lunch beforehand, and anyone else is welcome to join us for that too, otherwise we will be at the event from around 1pm. I don't know which pub we're going to yet (I'm waiting on toolsandtimberguy to recommend somewhere nearby) but I'll post the location on here ASAP.

I know this is very (very!) short notice, but I hoped that a few other members may be able to attend. If anyone wants more info, please feel free to respond in this thread, or contact me via PM.

I look forward to meeting lots of fellow FOGgers on the day!

I found out yesterday that my local dealer ETR in Asford Middlesex is having a Festool day on the 23rd of this month if anyone in the London/Middx area is interested. I had my first look at the Carvex while in there yesterday, it was the cordless version and I must say I wasnt impressed it actually looked a bit cheap to me not up to the usual standard.

Hi JRB,

I would have driven down from Glasgow but I'm away in Dorset that weekend for a family do. I hope it's a great day and you post a few pictures. It's really good to have a new UK dealer on here.

I would like to go but its like 3 hours away sooooooooooo far 6 hours of my day lol Also ill just spend more money I know I will. Every tool show I gone to at Rexcrystals (4 times)  I have spend average 1200 GBP. Tools shows are expensive!!!

Dealer I use is also having a Festool Tool Demo 24th and 25th September

He isnt my local dealer but I deal with him because he gives me the best prices I can find on the internet hes about 2 hour drive from me lol but my local dealer is a much bigger shop but he is more expensive and he talks a lot so you end up waiting alot. If he doesnt have something it takes a while to come in but Rexcrystals gets it much quicker even though he has to post it to me I still gets it sooner than my local dealer. My local dealer has gone more towards paint and ironmongery things and stocks a lot of that not the good tools only cheaper tools he tends to stock more off so you some times wait more than a week for something I cant be bothered with that. Thats why I deal with Rexy!

Hey guys, just to re-iterate a few points...

We will have demonstrations going on all afternoon. If you would like to see anything in particular let us know beforehand and we will do our best to cater for you. Also if you have any problems with your tools you can bring them up with you and we will do our best to fix it for you.

Our website is http://www.toolsandtimber.co.uk and the link for the festool surgery is on the main page. If you have any questions you can always contact me on the forum or our twitter is toolsandtimber.

Hope to see you there! :)

Fred, ;D I would have loved to attend if only to meet a Festool U.K. dealer who has embraced the FOG. Unfortunately that four letter word (work) has prevented my doing so. However on our next trip north in the motorhome I may just be able to wangle a diversion to your establishment. ;D  [thumbs up]
JRB:- Great idea and one I would have really enjoyed, a FOG Fest in the UK is a really worthwhile idea and I appreciate your efforts to get this mini Fest a reality.
Is it possible for enough of us "Euro" based Foggers to organize something in the near future? I say "Euro" based as the commute from mainland europe is less problematic/costly than a trip to the USA.
Best regards
Rob.

Details are now finalised!!!

We're meeting for lunch at The Gate Inn at Yanwath at 12 noon. You can find it here on Google Maps.

We'll have a spot of lunch, and then go on to G&S Specialist Timber from there, probably about 1pm.

For the purposes of identification, I will be sporting my Festool golf cap. I just hope Festool hats aren't the fashion of choice for the locals... [eek]

I look forward to meeting you all!

Jonathan

U.K. Foggers ROCK!

I have had the pleasure to meet many Foggers here.  You will have fun!  Picts would be great, but don't concentrate on those - enjoy meeting each other and talking.

I am jealous.
But you will be jealous when you find out what I am working towards.  You didn't think that I had been quiet without a reason, did you?

Only 3 of us unfortunately. Or 4, if you include TT Guy...

I will endeavour to remember to take some pics!
