This is an amazing woodworker with unorthodox tools. He's got several iterations of his bench/CNC/saw machine. Awesome furniture too.

Having trouble with the link. YouTube channel "Woodro LeeHyun"

been following his stuff for some time. I actually modified my large commercial cnc router so that I can disengage the positioning motors and use it in the same way. Shocking how useful it is. His machines though are quite expensive. very cool.

I like how he attached a small table saw inside the frame to make a panel saw.

It is interesting, basically an overarm router in a gantry configuration. Overarm routers are seldom seen in small shops because they are generally big cast iron beasts due to the use of a single cantilevered arm. The gantry is the big change.

That said, I don’t really see the value of computerized Z axis by itself.

Before robots and CNC became ubiquitous, industry used servo motors and limit switches. I think this setup would be improved (an very efficient) if it went all servo as long as it’s controlled by an intelligent woodworker.

I think the robotized Z-Axis makes perfect sense for repeatability, in concert with the vise (that is the table).
