Wondering how people feel about the universal cleaning set? I'm debating between it and the Industrial set. I like that the universal comes in a systainer but am a little worried that the 36 mm hose might clog when used as a normal shop vac hose.

You'll be surprised by the versatility of the 36mm hose.  Picking up anything up to midsized chips is no problem.

The 36mm hose is also useful for better dust extraction with many tools in the Festool lineup.

I have the universal cleaning set.  I leave it connected to my CT36 now that I built a Kapex stand that has plenty of room for my other Festool kit.  I find it works fine and have not had any issues.  Hard to get too excited amount a cleaning set but it does the job.

Also very happy with the workshop set. Especially the floor head. It just glides on everything from bare concrete to the interlocking foam pads.

I would disagree to a point, I think most people go through a phase when they get excited about anything with Festool written on it. After a while that goes away and you perhaps rationalise that they are just tools and it will take a big purchase like a Domino to really get excited.

A sad but true commentary on my life but hey, I'm glad to take happiness where I find it. [big grin]

If I spent 20% of the time I spend looking at tools online, reading and posting on forums etc. earning the minimum wage, I would be a happy man. I would have several world cruises under my belt by now.

When I started out, when you wanted a drill, you went to your local toolshop. There would be 3, you would buy one and the whole purchasing process took about an hour. Nowadays every purchase is 6 months of agony stuck in the paralysis of analysis.

I never heard of a scenario where the 36 mm hose clogs. The industrial 50 mm set is for the really big and dirty jobs, things you actually might not want to do with a Festool CT vac. Most people prefer the 36 mm for general cleaning.

Instead of a set you can also buy the parts separately. The combination that works best for my cleaning needs is the non-antistatic hose 36 mm x 3,5 m with the metal tubes and the standard floor nozzle. Plus the set with the 3 small nozzles. I also have the plastic tubes but they're a bit too bendy for my taste.

Sweet, sweet agony.  [wink]

That is so true!  I thought this internet age was supposed to make life easier! [unsure]

I purchased the Universal Cleaning Set to go with my CT36.  Being new to Festool products and this being my first purchase, I am very happy with my CT36 but suprised at the quality of the plastic accessories.  'Bendy' is certainly an accurate descriptor.  Although I was tempted to use the words 'wet noodle' to describe the integrity of the wand assembly, this might be a slight over statement.  Regardless, I would much prefer a metal wand over the plastic parts and may end up with an upgrade a few years down the road.

My biggest lesson from this purchase is to not assume that everything branded with the name Festool is high quality.  I will be much more careful next time; probably spend some time cruising this forum!

I have the tradesmen cleaning set. In use it with the CT26. Works extremely well. Being able to go from wood or concrete to carpet with the flick of a switch is great. Wasn't cheap, but I enjoy using it every time.

I decided to get one when I realized that for $11 more then the 3.5m 36mm hose alone I could get a Sys4 and the tubes and nozzles. What a deal. Besides the OF 1400 needs it.
