Unread Posts Get Marked As Read

The topics aren't actually getting marked as read. The "Unread" link at the top of every page takes you to Recent Unread Topics. That will show you unread topics since you last logged in. At the bottom of that list is a link to "All Unread Topics" which will show you the ones that have seemingly disappeared. If the list is empty, the message includes a link that says "Click here to try all unread topics" which does the same thing.

Yes, which I do, but it only happens when I login from Tapatalk - must be a 'logging in from another device' kind of thing that triggers it.

[member=57769]TylerC[/member]  Just wondering if a change was made. This problem doesn't seem to exist anymore with Safari for me at least. I just logged out and back in again and all the Unread messages were still there. That's different than a few weeks ago.

We haven't changed anything yet. The issue seems to be happening inconsistently based on browsers, so we're having a difficult time disgnosing the problem.

I've noticed that, merely going to the Unread posts section causes them to be marked as Read, thus making them disappear, even though I have not clicked on "Mark All As Read". Is this normal? I just noticed it on my MacAir (using Safari) and don't know if that is true on my PC with Chrome or not.

Usually I just read what I want and then mark the rest as Read, but I just went to the Unread section, logged out, and then back in again. No Unread messages were there.

i have the exact same problem and i am logged in all the time with safari.

[member=42735]DB10[/member] Actually the Unreads stay there only when I stay on my MacAir laptop. My iMac and MacAir have the same OS X version (Yosemite) and the same Safari version. As long as I stay on my laptop no problem. When I login to the FOG on the iMac all the Unreads disappear regardless of whether I read them or not. That would indicate it is a Safari setting I suppose, but I have no idea what that would be. I'd have to go through them one by one to see what, if any, differences exist.
[member=19734]grbmds[/member] Thanks for the info. I am using an earlier version of Safari than you are, and this problem only happens to me when I'm using my iPad.
I would of thought that there would be quite a lot of other people using i pads to connect to the FOG are they not having this problem. Doesn't seem to be that many people affected by this. If it is a setting on safari that needs changing and you happen to work it out I'd appreciate if you can let's us know. Thanks.

I admit that I don't do the marking of posts or threads read, and I am constantly using my iPad, iPhone, and computer (Safari) to visit and monitor the forum.  If there is a universal issue I suspect the reason that others haven't posted is because they don't do the read thing and rather scroll to the bottom of the home page on a regular basis and see the latest posts.
