:::::::::::::Original question::::::

Just wondering if someone here knows any good Festool dealers in the London area, cuz i'm going there nex week. Also if someone knows of good/big shops carrying other brands. Thanks

:::::::::::::After the trip:::::::::::::

I only got to visit two shops this time http://www.directbrandtools.com/ + The Hilti branch in Southwark.
Sorry for no pictures in this update.

Directbrandtools in Fulham is a good shop for festool products + friendly staff. Call ahead of your trip if you need something special like someone else mentioned. Their shop has heaps of router bits "Trend Brand".
Check their web site for other brand. They had a discount on the T18 + 3.
The shop is really easy to find located 200 meters from the Putney Bridge tube station on the District line. No VAT reclaim system like Global blue, but still cheaper than in Norway.

The other dealer was a Hilti branch in Southwark, small shop but very friendly staff. Got there on the Jubilee line and walked 200 meters. Opened an account to get a 35% discount on the tools.
No VAT reclaim system like Global blue, but still way cheaper than in Norway. Just an example Norwegian catalog price listed 65 pound (nok 585 + mva = 585 med mva og rabatt),
uk price incl. vat was 22 pounds this is 1/3 of the Norwegian price.

Depends where abouts your staying really! There is a place called d and m tools which is in twickenham which is just outside London. Thats where I go for most of my stuff. Or in east London there is a place called toucan tools. Put both of them in google and you can find out more info. I hope this is helpful.

D and m is no good full retail prices.. you need somewhere where they will give you a little dicount if its accesories your after

one good thing about d and m tools is they have a very fancy computer system that tracks all the stock and can tell them exactly how much of anything is in stock. it will ever hold payment to suppliers if they ship them the wrong colour etc or money outstanding etc.
my local dealer went over there to try and get his boss to adopt their system.
they do sell a lot of brands.
email them to see if they have what you want.

i dont know where you are staying or how long but lots of online dealers in the uk will deliver free to normal parts of the uk  [poke] [poke] wood guy.

jmb is not here so il do his bit. rexcrystals is great , he will sort you out. tell him jmb sent you and he will let you haggle. i dont know if he is free shipping but it was only 9 euro to ireland

Thanks, for all the info. btw I'm staying in the Kensington area.

I found directbrandtools.com also, its in the Fulham area don't know if it's any good.

I've been looking at the TOUCAN TOOL and D&M site those shops look good.  Google'd for street view pics.

The thing is I don't know how the train service is to Twickenham, or Leyton.

I can confirm that Ideabright in Fulham area (directbrandtools.com is their on-line trading name) are good - they have a good display area and are very helpful, however, if you need something in particular, call in advance as they only hold so much stock of non-common items - same for all dealers really.  After having used a few dealers - I now buy all my Festool equipment from them.

D&M are also good however I only use them for non-Festool for the reason given by others above.

Hope this helps.

John

The problem is that online stores will not send Festool tools to Norway. We therefore wish to visit a shop in London that has a good selection of Festool tools. Of course, if we want something special it should be reserved in advance so that they have it in the store.

A flight from Oslo to London costs generally no more than it costs to send the utility plus any fees for customs clearance. In addition we get a free weekend in jolly old England  ;D

Thanks for all the info and heads up + pm.

I'll take some pics + write some info next weekend + post some info on the Norwegian www.byggebolig.no builders forum.

I'm also going to the Hilti center in Soutwark to get some bits/stuff.

Don't bother with london power tools, they have a good selection of festool, but their customer service is very poor!
