Upgrade to CT Midi or get hepa filter for CT Mini?

OK, so my CT mini is in but I haven't picked it up yet. The CT Midi is only around $45 more and almost doubles the capacity but only increases the height by 2 inches. Alternatively I can take the additional $45 and get a hepa filter for the CT Mini.

Currently I only have the OF 1010 and I'm probably going to use my PC ROS with it but I could see getting a TS55 in the future.

I can swing the additional $45 without a problem but can't pony up an additional $150 for the CT26 so that's out of the running.

What would you do???

Thanks

Get the Midi.  You'll be thankful for the extra capacity, though it's only about a 50% increase.  4 gallons is way better than 2.6 gallons.
I got a 26, and still kept my Midi because it's so darn portable and lightweight.

Unless you're doing toxic stuff, the HEPA filter isn't a critical thing.
If you're adamant about it, you can get one for the Midi.

Jim, it's my opinion HEPA filters are not needed for woodworking.  Best way to spend the extra money is to get the Midi.  Also, Festool just came out with the new "self-cleaning" filter bags for the Mini/Midi vacs, be sure to get a box of extra bags of these and not the older paper bags.

Hmmm, I am looking at my 2011/2012 catalog and it says in 2011 the CT Mini and CT Midi are coming with the Hepa filter as standard equipment now.

Can anyone verify that? If that's true, it makes the choice pretty easy :)

Thanks

Jim, as far as I know the answer is not yet.  It's supposed to happen, last I heard the time frame was around the fall.

I made the same mistake getting the mini, however, the only differences are the bottom bin and bags so if anyone wants to upgrade you can get the midi base bin for about $75 or so plus bags.

Well, I took everyone's advice and upgraded my order to the CT Midi and a 5 pack of the self cleaning bags for it. Should arrive in 7 - 10 days...

I think I would have been regretting not having the bigger capacity in the long run...

Thanks for the help.

Where can you buy the midi base by itself?

Any Festool dealer can order it for you, or you can order it directly from Festool. The part number is 494152.

I have a fairly new MIDI and it is indeed a HEPA unit. There is even a HEPA sticker on it! So go forth and purchase the MIDI. I use my on a KAPEX and it works great!! I think you will be quite pleased with the MIDI unit.
