I use the mini on most job sites. I was frustrated at the lack of a third setting for tool-only on the stock switch and feel like this is a major oversight on festools account. After the warranty expired I decided to dig in and fix it. It took me a bit to understand the best way to go about it and realized that the complexity of the existing switch having a magnet etc. meant that I needed to install a rocker switch to bypass the electronic board. I also switched out the crappy super cheap stiff stock cord with a ridgid multi outlet cord. Now I am able to use the vac as an extension cord and the stock outlet with out having vac on. There is just enough room to cut in the rocker switch. And the 25’ multi outlet cord fits inside nicely. Notice in the photos that there are extra male spade connections available to make the bit of wiring easy. With the rocker to the left the outlet is energized. Rocker to the right the auto feature works normally.
