Just a word to the wiser:  Numerous people are having problems upgrading to iOS on their iPhones.  You might want to wait.  (Ken is rolling on the floor laughing right now)  I upgraded three devices yesterday, had problems with all three.  Two (mine) are now working fine.  One (wife's) is not.  [eek]

Download crashed every time I tried to download iTunes 10.5, so I couldn't get it installed. Not a good sign. Suppose my 4s will come with it pre-installed.  [wink]

Hee Hee. [laughing]  Been There Done That.  Your a brave bunch to try an install on the first day of distribution. [cool]

Good luck - IOS5 sounds really cool.

Hi ho hi ho its now off to the apple store i go with a black brick in tow! [eek]

A friend of mine upgraded the OS on his iPhone a while back. I kept getting called from his phone and when I answered, there was nobody there. The first couple of times, I though it was a pocket dial, the next several started making me wonder why he thought it was funny.

Veronica and I were going to get her nephews and take them to the farmer's market. On the way, we stopped at his house to ask him to stop calling. He met us outside with his iPhone in hand and proceeded to state that he couldn't get it to stop without turning off the phone. Every time he turned it on, it would call the last number dialed, (which was mine), before he could do anything else.

Apple isn't as perfect as their reputation would make one believe...

Luke, you should have heeded my warning.  Now you've let the darkside into the confines of your A4 chip's ram.  Hey!  There's a shot for that.  [poke]

Tom,

Too bad you didin't have one of those 900 numbers.  Could have made a nice profit that day.

Lucky me.  Next appointment in 2 hours!  Talked to my brother and Apple tech support is slammed.  He tried to upgrade his iPad yesterday and had problems too.  According to what he read some others had my same issue.  I never thought that I would say this, but thank goodness today is a rain day.

Peter

Peter. Sorry to hear of your issues. I have  installed iOS on 2 out the 6 devices that need updates.  So far so good!  Wish me luck with the remaining 4.

Good luck!

I went into the apple store and browsed to this thread on ten of their computers and then walked away!  [big grin] [big grin]

as part of my day job, I deal with iOS development and have been on iOS5 since their first developer release.  What are the specific issues you are experiencing with the upgrade? While, I can't do much over forum and emails but I definitely can try.

What problems are you experiencing?

Me?

I have the apple on my screen, then the progress bar starts, then that stops after about 2 seconds, the the spinning emblem starts.  Repeat.  It finally stopped after the battery died.

Peter

my mssus had loads of problems with hers last night, jmb will confirm as he could hear all the shouting over the xbox lol

I try to stick to the rule "no dot zeros"; last time I had to use a 'dot zero' it was for the development environment for iOS applications.  Polite words cannot describe how absurdly horrible that application was; there is no platinum white pill you can take in quantity to make up for that application's release: undoubtably the worse I've used in my career.

I only used the seed release of iOS 5 to test my application that was being released the same day.  Mostly worked correctly except a couple dialogs that iOS5 decided were best viewed full screen.  Not sure if they fixed that bug before release; assuming not.

i had problems last night and it crashed my phone, i couldent do anything with it

i had to shut the phone down by holding the top and home button together then press the home button whilst plugging in the usb to the phone and it restored/ updated ok this morning

BINGO!  You were correct.  I didn't know that trick.  Never had an issue with my ios devices - except for one that decided to go toilet swimming.  The marriage has been saved for another week.  [big grin]
