Sorry if this has been covered (but I can't seem to get a definitive answer doing searches).  Would like to upload a drawing, but I can't...Any help would be apprecieative!

In sketchup, get to the view you want to have, then select export - export 2D.  It will save to a jpeg and then you can handle that like any other image and post , which you have done numerous times successfully.

Let me know if you have issues.

Loosely related to the OP's question, have you come across "match new photo" in sketchup? It allows you to calculate dimensions and essentially copy a photo of a building, piece of furniture, etc. It is an amazing tool.

I saw a piece of furniture I liked recently, and was able to calculate the dimensions using sketchup. Now I am well on the way to building it.

The more I get into sketchup, the more I like about the program.

Thanx for posting that sketchup tip info Richard, great new possibilities.

Richard,

Do you use the free version or the professional version?

Peter

Free all the way!

I can't imagine needing more than that which is available in the free version. I think the current version is sketchup 8.

You've been able to do that for some time now but maybe in the newest version they made it easier or different.

It was introduced in v. 7. You do have to be careful with this tool. If the photo you use has been altered from the original (as most magazine shots have been) in any way, for example lens, keyhole etc. the sizing will be hard to recover. In my experience it works best on objects, rooms and buildings that have at least one pair of surfaces at right angles to each other or has been shot in 3/4 view.
Using a photo to paint textures is pretty cool as too.

If you just want to attach an image of the drawing, then do a 2d export as above. If you want to upload the actual drawing for others to open up in SketchUp, then the best way is to upload the model to the SketchUp 3D Warehouse, and then simply post a link to it there.

Or just throw the sketchup file in a zip file and upload the zip file here.

http://www.jzip.com/

You can upload any file type  here on the forum if you zip the file. That takes about 30 seconds and is the fastest way to share files here that the forum will not accept for upload.
