using Domino XL 700 to cut for 500 KD connectors

I've been using a lot of the Domino KD connectors (14mm) with my 700, and they've worked out really well. I'm wondering if you could use the 700 to cut (I believe 8mm) and use the new connectors made for the 500 say in 3/4" stock?

Anyone have experience with the 500 KD connectors?

The 700 XL works without problems for the 8mm connectors, you just need a shim (double-sided taped to the fence, as the minimum fence height on the XL is 10mm) for material thinner than 20mm to locate the mortices in the middle of the stock.
