Question for the cabinet guys. I'm about to start a cabinet refacing project in bamboo. Doors I will build from plyboo and edge with 1/8 strips. At present the cabinet have a kinda glossy thermform smooth finish. Should i Veneer over top since the surface is smooth or remove it completely. The other problem I have is the old edge tape. Should i remove and clean off the glue. There seems to be so many edge tapes out there but which is best for a professional finish.
I have access to fleece back so can use contact adhesive to stick. There is also peel and stick which uses a 3m product for glue or regular iron on. What do most of you cabinet guys use?

thx

I'm assuming that you are talking about frameless cabinets?
If so,remove the old edge tape and clean/sand.As far as what product to use,i would look into a supplier that offer something to match your finish/wood.

Yes eurostyle in bamboo. Can get some bamboo edge tape with a fleece back local, or order all the other bamboo edge tapes from the US.

thx

I always use the iron on and it works great and you do not need starch !!!

Then trim it with fastcaps. Edge trimmer tool. It works great

When you remove old edge banding and clean it up. Be careful if you sand. As you do not want to uneven the edge that a sander can do

Good luck
