I have the 1010 router and would like to use this in a router table top. I have heard that the Festool routers do not work well with router tables. Any suggestions?

Well, you can use the 1010 in a router table buy it's not ideal. Most routers for table use are large, powerful and made to be used upside down. The 1010 is a plunge router making it difficult to adjust in a table. Plus, it's a fairly small router, meaning it won't take large bits. And lastly, it's not sealed (from dust) well enough for long term used in a table. Again, it can be done but there are far better options out there.

I discussed use of a Festool plunge router (OF 1400 and OF 1010) in a router table with Festool's factory technicians a couple of years ago.  They specifically recommended that I buy another router for table installation, which I did.  The relatively strong plunge return springs are problematic when inverted in a table, and removal of them is not recommended and may void your Festool warranty.    Festool's official position may change soon if/when their modular table system is brought to America.  The industrial standard router for table use is the PC 7518, others choose the Milwaukee "Big Boy."  Many users have reported satisfaction with Triton's routers for table use.  I have both a Freud 13A and a PC 15A and use my Festool OF 1400 router as recommended by Festool.  The Freud and Triton are designed for use in a table and come with accessories that facilitate bit height adjustment from above the table.

Here's another vote for the Triton (for table use).  I have the 2 1/4 HP version in my table, mainly because it has a handle allowing for bit adjustment from above the table.  I don't currently turn any huge bits, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to get the 3 1/4 hp version and deal with reaching under to make height adjustments.

While you "can" use the router in a table, I'll also recommend you consider acquiring another router to dedicate to the table. The OF1010 and OF1400 were designed specifically for comfortable hand-held use and will be cumbersome to use inverted and fastened to a plate. The long handle alone will make for some clearance challenges, depending on the design of the table setup.

And BTW, build your own router table...
