Using the DTS 400 when refinishing cabinets

Thats the Dts400.  I almost bought that one today but got the rts. I wish the bases came off so you could use one sander instead of needing two whole different sander to get a square or pointy base.  Great video btw.
Actually does anyone know if you could buy the dts base and put it on the rts?  Looks like the same body.

Because I'm not rich.  Spending $400 on a smaller headed sander when I could simply buy another head makes a lot of sense to me.  I'm sure if  my idea were possible it would have been done by now.  I have two other sander I use which have the pointed base so I really won't spend a boat load on a little sander when it's purpose is covered in what I got.  There's an 0f2200 I'd rather save for.

On the prior models, the DS400 and the RS400 I am pretty sure that you could swap the pad assembly and convert.

I don't believe you can on the current "T" models.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the vac suction is turned up all the way. It sounds like the sander is getting sucked into the surface of the cabinet. You may find it beneficial to dial back the suction all the way on these smaller sanders.

In fact, it could be done on the RS400 & DS400, the predecessors of the RTS/DTS. Festool deliberately made it impossible on the newer models.

You can see the suction setting at 2:25 into the video, it looks like it is cranked all the way up.

It may have been inadvertently turned up Shane, but I have trained the guys to turn it all the way down when using that tool. I will see if I can fix the title.

As far as using the RO 90 I have another video I have yet to process using it on this same job.
