Vac Bags

I know this is not up there with real problems with Festools; when they do happen, but has anyone had any issues with the bags for, in my case the CT22, their vacs?

I ask because a while back I purchased a few 5-pack boxes of bags.  We recently ran out; we even made the last two or three last longer by emptying them and reusing them.  Well, late last week we really, really, needed a few more.  With my free 2nd day delivery, I ordered a 5-pack from Amazon.

I just found out this morning that these bags seem inferior to what we were using in the past.  One of my guys accidentally poked his fingers through the side of a bag while opening it prior to inserting it in the CT22.  He, only once, attempted to empty a bag but the bag broke and spilled debris all over the place.

Now, I know these bags are not designed to be reusable but we were under the gun, so to speak.  That said, the quality difference is readily apparent.  One of my guys remarked that they even look different, though I am no judge.

I want to sell the CT22, hence not stocking up on bags.

That's what I did, stock up.

If I had been able to sell the CT22, I would never have needed new bags, and would never been in a position to noticed the difference.

That said, the bags are made of paper and if they sat in Amazon's, probably unheated, warehouse for any length of time, they could have absorbed moisture from the air, which deteriorated the material.

If we had not gone through three bags already, I would have returned them to Amazon.

Easy solution........Loooooooooooong life bag. I've had mine for more then a year and emptied it at least 30 times and it still looks brand new. It might be pricey at first but after the 5th time you empty it you have your cash back. [2cents]

Guess you must have 'bagged' a bunch of cash in your CT22 to latter recover your money back from the long life bag.  [scared]

Really, I don't follow your calculation.  If you had stated that, "after the 30th time you have your cash back" I could agree.  But certainly not after the fifth use.

5th or 50th?  5 bags are a lot cheaper than a single long life bag.

And to me, one of the advantages of bagging is almost no mess when you dispose of the bag.  Emptying the and you get dust and debris flying all over.

I like to be able to just toss them, not empty them.

I probably have a bag explode every 3rd one.  I need to buy some CT-26 bags for my 22 and see if that helps.

I stocked up late last year, just before I ran out of the earlier supply.  The new ones I got were identical to the originals.  I am so delighted that the Festool bags come with built-in caps to prevent redistributing the contents of the bag before I can make it to the trash can.  I say that after having dropped a bag full of sawdust and fireplace ashes from my much older shop vac on the way to the trash can.  [eek]

I was looking at the long life bag, but since I want to get the new 36, I was waiting.

And funny you should mention it.

Earlier this week my guys were planing down some stock and attempted to us the CT22.  Bad move.  Filled a bag in 30 minutes.  Now THAT is where the long life bag would come in handy.

Wow this is disappointing to hear.   I got my vac last summer and so far I am impressed with my ct33 bags.   The last two bags I removed were heavy and packed tight. I literally had to wrestle them out of my vac.  Took the top of the vac off, took all the accessories off, tipped the vac over and tugged at the bag until the vac "gave birth" to it.  [scared]     I then shouldered the baby dirt bag and walked down to flights of stairs.   Can't do stuff like that anymore with a flimsy bag.   Does anyone know if the ct26/36 bags work well in the old vacs?   I think I saw someone fit one in his old vac, so I know you can get them in. I just wonder how they perform as they are not intended for use in older vacs.  If I have to switch bags I'm going to miss those plastic caps.

I/We toss them as well.  Only when we were running low did we resort to emptying them for reuse.

That's how the bags from my earlier purchases behaved.  Tight, dry and packed to the gills.  Not a leak anywhere to be found.  The new batch........

Just had a bag blow out, the top of it.

Had to be drywall dust too. [mad]

I think this one will cost me new filters after I finish sanding tomorrow.

I  pack those bags as full as a brick and still in 3 years never had one blow out. I have packed bags so full I could barely pull them out of the machine.

Could it be that it's because I only use wood and never any other dust gets in my machine?

I can contribute a couple to those prongs for the water sensors.

Several to chunks of something, a stray finish nail will do it too.

This one was just dry wall dust.  I was using my PC drywall sander to sand down my plaster walls I skimmed out. 

Oh well, poop happens.

The new 26 / 36 bags work great.
Just be sure to check that when inserting the bag, that the bottom cardboard clip latch into it's respective holder. If u don't u would not realize it until it's too late and the whole inside turns into a big mess.

Ok so maybe not after the 5th use but I still think the long life bag is the way to go. I do a lot of solid edge planning with my Lamello Cantex and if I had to use the throw away bags I would go through 5 bags on some weeks. And emptying out the long life bag only takes about a minute. The whole top opens up with a kind of zip lock and if you dump it in a drum and put the lid on right away there is virtually no dust that will fly all over.
